hello!!
i am having a small trouble with my engine on my 1302s. Currently it is only running on 3 cylinders, i know which one it is (i think its numbered 3, the one on the front left of the car) but i cant work out why it is not firing.
i have checked for a spark, it seems normal, i put in new HT leads and a new plug.
my mate reckons it could be the exhaust valve because there is a smell of unburnt petrol but neither of us are sure.
i have very limited funds and especially because it's nearing Xmas i want to identify the problem before i try and fix anything
any ideas would be very welcome.
cheers!!

| Take a comprssion check if you can, but it sounds like you burned a valve. |

your subject line lured me in... congratulations.
maybe your valve springs have gone bad or are at the very least being sticky. |

| Try swapping out the spark plug wire with one known to be good to see if that is the problem. |

| If it is cylinder 3 and it is not fring then it probably seized. the oil cooler sits right on it so it gets less air flow then then all the rest of them. same thing happened to me. |

tis the third cylinder indeed and since i posted this message my uncle told me the same info about the oil cooler.
did you just replace the valve? did it run fine afterwards? |

| Have you looked at the valves and tried to adjust them? That's a great, free, place to start, assuming that it is getting spark correctly. |

What is siezed? Dings engine is running..albeit not well.
I'd start with a valve adjustment and compression check. The compression check should tell the tale. |
