Can anyone tell an easy quick way to remove old tar board? And also should I replace it with new or is something better 33 years later?

Try a heat gun and a putty knife.

Dynamat is alot better.

I tried a couple of different methods and finally decided that the heat gun method just made a gooey mess. So I turned to a putty knife and brute force.

I just hacked at it rather violently and it came out eventually. When its cool it will shatter and come off in chips its easier to remove if the pan is super rusty so be really thankfull if its hard as hell to remove.

I spent a week cursing the inventor of that foul horrid stuff and then promptly put down more after the two coats of rust bullet dried.
