does anyone know if these can be adapted to a stock torsion housing? I plan on notching the springplates, but i would like to do as little of it as possible

in a thread a little while back(tried looking for it but had no luck) that same question came up and someone found an ad for them saying they worked with stock or aftermarket torsion housings. i have noticed that the ad (it was one of the larger ones in hot vw's) now dosent say anything about working with the stock set up.
i guess call em up and ask? |

Brad,
what kind of travel are you aiming for? With only a little trimming on your spring plates and the use of your 3X3 arms you can get some healthy travel numbers. I would guess 14+ inches is easily possible.

| never asked...i'm just going to get some dual springplate caps, cut off the stock suspension stops, and do a bit of notching. |

| especially since i wont have to cut off to much to clear the stock stops. limit straps will do the stopping job for me |

| have you removed your stock stops and gone to limit straps or are you notching around the stock stops? |

I have ground quite a bit away from both. I would never do this with a single spring plate!
i have been to cheap to buy limit straps when there is stops there already. I did however discover that with the front end I was able to use some axle tie down straps with some custom mounts for the limits. these were about $5 each at the local tractor supply strore. seem to be well made and rated at 5000lbs. should be way more than enough to stop those arms. for the back I am not so sure?? I am going to do it just a mater of time. probably right after i explode one of my 930's and have to replace them. Funny, I will blow $600 on cvs and not the $50 or the time/effort to help protect them. |
