Hi, I got a set of duals 36s dellortos in my 1776 engine...it seems to me that the gas usage is more than expected :?

I know that more air/more fuel...etc...the fact that the plugs are black and the exhasut is too. :( tells me that the carbs are running rich...any general rules for the mixture control screw and turns on the airpas screw etc.
I have a air flow/uni syn meter....any advise on the readings?

I have a DIS IX ignition system at 0 degrees with 50 thousands on the plugs. I have an air fuel ratio gauge and shows all the time to be on the green side of the scale and runing rich...I have been told that I am using the wrong oxygen sensor...a topic for another day.

anyhow..the car is runnig good and I am trying to make it better! Thanks for any comments! :)

Get the Delorto tuning book from CB. We recomend it to any one with Del's or Webers. Vic.

You are running rich at idle and under power with the 36 Dells, they are basically the same as running 40 webers. Have you rejetted them? If not they standard jets are going to be too big for even your mild overbore motor. you need to get a couple of smaller sets of idle jets, main jets and accel jets and change them all to smaller ones. When you take them out they all have little tiny numbers stamped on them. They are easy to change out. The standard jets put in these carbs are not going to work on your motor.
