it has a 1600 engine in it also. I was wondering because I'm thinking of picking it up for my first aircooled. :)

anywhere from $1500 to $5500 depending on the condition.
it's hard to give you a straight answer after viewing a dark picture of another car.
how are the heater channels, floor pan, front and rear aprons? og fenders? 4 tab hood? w deck lid? og glass? og paint? electrical? wheels?
if you have any pics or links we could follow it would help greatly. |

| Depends on the reversability of the work done (it looks like the rag top has been made into a hard top, and that split window conversion looks a bit shady). Also, if the motor is good...you say it's not running, but is that because the motor's not in it, or because the motor is shot? It's definitely got potential...but more detail is necessary for an accurate appraisal (guess). I've seen nicer go for $800 and worse go for 2k, so it's up to you. |

I don't think the attached photo is the car that Angela is considering on purchasing. The car shown is a '53 Zwitter and Angela mentioned contemplating purchasing a 56 ragtop. The pic is just for comparison purposes |

| I would have offered 1000.00 If it has the og seats. So 2000 is more than fair. If it has the right fenders and hood, and semas. I didnt look at the othere pics yet. Look in the class. and search oval rag there was like 3-4 of them on there awhile back for like 1-2000 in around the same shape. Good luck let us know if you need any help finding parts. |

| I looked at the pics now " I no expert " But in the pic of the rear lug. area on the driver side it looks like its been hit, the metal seems like its been hammered on. Also can you get a pic of the inside of the front fenders and does the car have seats? But the car does look decent. |

| Yeah, with og fenders/pan/working or fixable semaphores and a running motor...I;d say $2000 is about the top market value for that bug. It does seem nice and would be an awesome first VW. Tell your family friends about what was said in this forum and let them decide how much they want for it...I mean the 'family friend' thing should go both ways and they should want to give you a decent deal too right? |
