So I got my birth certificate from Stiftung today, but i'm confused about some things.

1. M 020: mph speedometer but my car is U.S. delivered

2. M 107: ram protection. Over-riders?? again U.S. delivered

3. M 135: leatherette upholstery. Didn't all deluxe beetles come with leatherette??

and the certificate says my car had a 30hp motor. Didn't all deluxe beetles have a 36hp?
any help is appreciated. thanks.

All cars were coded European build.

1. M 020: mph speedometer but my car is U.S. delivered - showing it needs a MPH speedo in the build shieet

2. M 107: ram protection. Over-riders?? again U.S. delivered . This is the overriders. Same per above.

3. M 135: leatherette upholstery. Didn't all deluxe beetles come with leatherette?? No.

i must have a typo on my b/c.

it says 107: rum protection.

wasted german factory workers?? :lol:

30hp = the DIN (German Industry Standard) spec.
36hp = SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) US spec.

Same engine, different method of rating the output.

For example, the 1200cc "40hp" for our '61 thru '65 Beetles was referred to as the "34hp" engine in Europe.

I wanna get my cars birth certificate...how did you go about getting it? How much was it?

OK. Here is the EASY way to do this. Fill this out and fax it, including your credit card number. I have done this 3 times and have always recevied my certificate within a month.

Yeah, Frau Neffe spending her days down in that dark dusty basement surrounded by all the old factory records. Hair tied up in a bun, pencil stuck behind her ear, glasses on a chain, and nothing but black lace and leather on underneath. In my fantasy she's about 40 and likes to drink a little more than she should, but feel free to adjust that to fit your own needs.

SWEET!!!!...hopefully Frau will approve of my "wiernerschnitzel" and put my request on the top of the pile. Her CLOTHES pile that is, lol.
