It looks like I have to remove the rear side windows to access the semaphore compartment, correct? If so, is there a trick to getting those glass panels out w/o ruining them?

The best way to remove the window IMO is to cut the seal around the window, but you dont have to remove the window to get to the semiphore compartment.

Flip the semaphore up and undo the bolt at the bottom or top i dont remember, then slide it up or down to take it out, then un plug the wire, good luck, like the last guy said dont pull the window.

OK, I won't take out the rear quarter glass. However, I am only able to move each semaphore about one-half inch and then it seems they are not going to move any further w/o a lot of force which I am sure will break something. So, what does one do if they will not flip up with manual pressure. Is there a trick to getting them to move w/o breaking them? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you can open the semaphore 1/2-inch, that's a great start. Now look at the top of the semaphore. You should see a release lever attached to a spring. If you take a small jeweler flat head screwdriver, lift up on the lever. It'll release the semaphore and allow for full opening. If this doesn't work, chances are the semaphore is probably seized and no good anyway.

If you can activate the Semaphore the screw is on the bottom. If you can open it up a small amount the screw is on the bottom it is a large screw flat blade screw head.
be careful they aint cheep. |

Success! I found the release lever and was able to open (flip up) the semaphore, disconnect the wiring, and remove the lower attaching screw. The entire unit came out as promised. Thanks for the guidance!
