Hi guys,
I am starting on restoring my 57. It is a european model with sunroof, semaphores, and a cloth interior made in March of 57. I am a stickler for accuracy. I am looking for documentation on what was used and when. For instance Hella or Bosch headlights. Which ones? Orange or yellow lensed semaphores? 021D or 021E? I have questions galore. I picked up a copy of the factory workshop manual and misc books. Is there a specific thing I need? The owners manual isn't very helpful. Thanks again,
Peter |

| If you ask real nicely, Bill May MIGHT even burn a Progressive Refinements CD for you.... That book/CD is pretty much the ultimate argument settler, you wanna argue with Hermann the German from ze factory in Wolfsburg? 8) It's an Official VW Factory book, written by Volkswagenwerk AG, pretty hard to trip THEM up... |

| i don't know about tripping-Bruce Tweddle says 1965 beetles had stainless steel door handles in 1965 beetles, and progressive refinements shows stainless on the late 66 that look like67 type.. |

Nope, not yet, Bill, still here in "The Dido" for a few more months...
There are some "anomalies" in Progressive Refinements but, by and large, what's in there, can be taken to the bank.
I have every intention of being at the In-N-Out January 15th, Bill, but with building a house in NorCal, selling a house in SoCal, getting a house ready to rent, and driving 80 miles one-way to a full time job, I never know what kind of hand the game of Life is gonna deal me from day to day.
If i don't make it, I'll send you a few copies for your help over the years, especially that one time, with a certain book.... 8) |

If you can find it, get J.T. Garwood's "Volkswagen Beetle The Car Of The Century" You would need volume one.
Think of it as Progressive Refinements in a more readible version with paint and interior charts. |
