Before you all get all up on how Wolfsburgwest sell only quality you should know that that isnt true. they sell some of the same shitty south of the boarder crap that others do. this isnt a rant knocking them just fact. Special shops like BFY or WW are gifts to us and everyonce in a while we have to deal with some crap.

In my experience BFY is a great shop and has always given me best product and help whenever possible. Just reading your posts and your description of how you reacted to the situation leads me to believe you weren't exactly the courteous customer when a problem occured. I imagine you probably called them up and right off the bat had an attitude. The majority of the part suppliers out there state clearly on their receipts that if the part fails they will replace it and will not cover labor. Why should the VW community be any different? I could see some validity in posting this topic if all the proper channels of communication were exausted with BFY and they gave you the shaft or if the part was something a bit more substantial than $8, but give us a break.

$8 dollar latch? My goodness!!!! Why not get a NOS german one and pay a lot more for it. Ive been dealing with BFY for a long time(Miers Upholstery) and they all have been nothing but great help. Darrin is a class act along with his helpful and courteous employees. Keep up the good work guys!!! :D

 We have a company doing excursions with dune buggies for 15 years in the Dominican Republic, You cannot imagine what parts can brake in just one hour on the road made in Brazil, and sometimes it is also the supplier who doesn't now the difference between quality and quantity. But I think that BFY is a good company any way if you drive vw vehicles you should always ask :vw:

Darren, Julian, Rob and everyone at BFY have been great to deal with and have helped me so much in supplying nice quality parts, service, and workmanship as I work through restoring our bus. Always very courteous and always ready to help with good solid advice, know-how, and I believe, HONESTY. They have on more than one occasion suggested use of another suppliers parts, if they felt the quality was better than thier stock. Even the best NOS part can break after install and use, after sitting idle, (even in a box) for 40-50 years. Sounds as if they tried to completely rectify the situation anyway. If you HAD bought an NOS latch and installed it,(or had it installed for you,) I seriously doubt the seller or the installer would take responsibility for post-install breakage. And that latch would've been in the $30-50 range, plus your time or money for install. BFY is an all-around quality operation, (in my opinion) D.R.

Ive done busnesse with bfy many times, the one i remember the most is when i had my 59 rag, i needed the breke resivor cap, they were out of stock, he said we may have some used ones, the guy looked for 15 min, with a few other customers in the store, he found a good used one, and gave it to me, so i thought that was really cool, considering it was a original made in germany seal,

I purchased all the window rubber from them as well, and when i bought my 65 i got all the window and body seals from them, there prices are higher then some, but the quality is well worth it, they also gave me a cool magnet with the caution do not roll windows down in axcess of 120 mph, wich will go in all the vws i own over my time, great advise and great servise.

Also, u get what u pay for....

I stopped shopping at BFY because of rude asshole counter staff on phone orders. Strike 1. Then strike 2-3 when they screwed up my order and I had to deal with the phone guy again. Here's a biz tip: don't be a jerk to someone giving you their hard earned money.
Just my experiences.

Dave24 Thu Jul 07, 2005 9:01 pm

:-k Who is the "phone guy"? Did you get a name? just wondering, because you said you "stopped" shopping with BFY, meaning you are a repeat customer (having made 1 or more prior purchases). If all transactions were bad, why make another purchase ever? . What did you buy, how was your order screwed up, etc..., specifics help people reading your post determine WHO screwed up. Talk to darren, I'm sure he'll take care of you, your complaint, AND the "phone guy" , (whoever that was) if called for. Again, being specific is crucial as simply saying "I GOT SCREWED"is really a little vague for anyone to form an opinion on your situation one way or another. D.R.

This was about a year ago, and I don't remember all the details. It was my 2nd order from them, had a coupon, figured what the hell. I just don't have time for that sort of thing, plenty of other VW vendors. Everything's such a crap shoot these days.....

I did an order from bfy a few years back for my 63 bug, wich means I orderd all 63 bug parts. They sent me a fuse block to a 61 bus, and head light visors for 68 up bugs. Needless to say, my father and I no longer give them our business.

Russ Sat Jul 09, 2005 7:26 am

i had a hard time getting the new vent wing seals in,i talked to BFY and sent my frames to them.they installed them ata decent price and a decent amount of time.
i also had one bad latch on my 55 (had a 56 and up one just rechromed too:)
BFY had what i needed i think i paid 70.00 for the 55 and earlier NOS latch though.now i don't know what a later nos one goes for but making the jump from 8 bucks to 50 i personally think alot would go with the 8 dollar latch and say i can replace 4 of them if i have to.
my .002
i have found BFY good guys to deal with (i only dealt with them the once)
but would do so again
Russ

Sorry about the latch situation. I also had a vent wing latch ordered and installed it with no problems. Well, I sold that bug already. But so far ordered all the parts I needed and never had to send any back..

This is a follow up to my original post. Daren, the owner of the BFY called me personally which was a nice gesture. Its nice to know he cares about his customers problems and he cares about his company. Keep up the good work guys.

Don't know if anybody will see this, but the Admin rules ask to search first, so I complied. This is the most prominent thread for BFY Obsolete Parts, so I'll throw in my 2 pennies.
These guys are great, I've ordered several parts through the mail and the Internet, (they aren't that far away, but shipping is cheaper than gas) I am thoroughly impressed by the entire operation from their search engine, to their Fed Ex shipping and the reasonable prices. They have a happy customer here. :D

Just ordered myself an early birthday gift - got a new Wiring Works harness for my '61 sedan from BFY and it arrived quickly and in great shape.
Looking forward to doing business with them again!

I went to BFY last Saturday and placed a large order. The guys were helpful as always. What wasn't in stock was shipped to me and arrived Wednesday. Awesome as usual.

My bad but I assumed he was Aussie cause he told my wife and I that he just got back from Australia and it was nice to visit family.
