I ordered on July the 14th... it is now Sept 9th. I still havent seen the part (i am in Aust) He keeps telling me he has sent the parts and will get a tracking number for me. If he cant get some certain parts thats fine just tell me, or if the freight cost is more then what i paid again tell me. Grr now im going to have to ring him.

Well...here is another bad dealing with BFY. I placed my order on Aug. 13, today is Sep. 20....still no parts. I emailed Darren 4 times and have called 3. Nothing but a total f**king runaround. At first he could not find my info....bullsh*t!. Then he transfered me to the (I hate my job, so I am going to do as little as possible) shipping Dept. This guy said he will look into it and call me back......no call back(big surprise). The other day I got an email from Darren saying one of the products was backorderd, but the other has been shipped......this was 2 weeks ago and nothing! Next week when nothing shows up, I am calling my credit card company to get a chargeback done. GOOD LUCK to everybody that's taken it up the ballon knot from these f**kers....!!!!!

They have no reason and no business treating honest customers that way.

I have a feeling that as word gets out they will have fewer and fewer honest customers dealing with them. After reading this thread I think BFY is just way too risky to do business with. There are plenty of other VW parts suppliers out there that don't have this sort of baggage. Why chance it.

Call him and be firm-but polite. 3 months is too long. Way too long.
I just received parts that were ordered last month from these guys. And no, I didn't read the feedback first. Parts arrived late and were only a partial order, and were broken. After repeated calls, the order was finally satisfied. I used to buy stuff from this company years ago, and they were great. They obviously went to hell in a hand basket. All I can say is STAY AWAY!
*edit* And yes, they used all the lame excuses on me too.

I ordered a gas tank for my car from this company on Sept 3rd. They took my money from my account on the 4th. The website said products were shipped within 24-48 hrs. I contaced the company 3 days later to ask for a shipping number and never recieved a response. After 2 more emails, I called the company and was told that they had to order the tank, and it would be in on the 12th. After not hearing from them, I contacted them on the 16th to see about getting a tracking number again. I was told the package was in the shipping dept and was leaving that afternoon. I never recieved a package, and contacted them again on the 23rd. I was told that someone from shipping would call me. After 3 more days, I recieved no call, and contacted them again on the 26th. I was told that Fedex lost my package and would I like a refund. As it had almost been a month, I told them yes, I would like my money back. I checked my bank account this morning, the 30th, and still no refund, so I once again contacted them. The first email went unanswered, so I sent another one, mentioning that I was taking all of my paperwork and emails from them to my local JAG office. I was told that my email was being fowarded to someone in the refund dept and I would get my money. That was at 1300 their time, 1600 my time. So I knew it would at least take a few hours to hear back from the so called refund dept. At 1700 their time, 2000 mine, I get an email from Fedex, saying that a package had been sent via this company, to my address. I was outraged. I have been lied to for a month. They NEVER sent the package off to me to begin with, that was all a lie. I was lied to saying that I would get my refund. Basically, someone there screwed up, and instead of telling me about it, they lied and tried to put me off. I would have been able to deal with the truth better. Now, after spending a weekend fixing my car the best way I could, I have a freaking gas tank on the way that would have helped me had I recieved it almost a month ago, when I ordered it. My main complaint here is that if it was out of stock, I should have recived an email after I ordered saying that it was out of stock, and asking me if I would want to wait for them to get it in. That way I could have been given the choice to wait, or try to get it somewhere else. As it was, I was without my car for almost a month. These people are scam artist, and liars, and do not deserve the business of hard working people.

Well I'll ad this to the mix:

I order a pair of pop-out latches back on Sep16th. Called twice an was told that yes they were shipping out today. Called again today and was told they had been shipped and would i like a tracking#, ok got transfered to the mutant in the shipping dept and was told he would call me back...........3 hrs ago.

Now I am fairly new the the VW world, and have gotten awesome service from CIP and WW. Now with my past projects 5.0 mustangs and late model GM trucks, I have never ever been treated so poorly by a vendor. I really enjoy my 60' and it's truly a family project now but this has been a real downer.

I realize pop-out latches are now big deal, but try telling that to my 4 year old daughter who just wants to go for a ride in "froggy" when the windows are back in!!!!!!!!

I'm still waiting on an order made back in early July. My items were limited to patch pannels.

gernblansten Fri Oct 03, 2008 7:11 am

You folks with outstanding orders need to call your credit card company and report that they have billed your cards but not shipped the goods. Once the credit card processors stop taking their charges, these guys will fix their process or close up shop.

screwmjk Fri Oct 03, 2008 7:15 am

I have taken all my emails from them up to the JAG office here on base, and they are telling me that this company is very lucky that it has not faced several small claims cases. They are encouraging me to file a claim if this shipment does not show up by Oct. 6th. So, we will see what happens.

Hello,
I’ve made an order in end of July 2008
I've still not received the parts (almost 3 months)
they didn’t give me a tracking number the follow the order despite I’ve asked 10 times to have one
they didn’t answer to several Emails (I’m not black listed)
they didn’t answer within the form on their website
I’ve phoned (my English is nul) and they stopped the call
For me, it’s unforgivable for a “worldwide known” shop.

They are many discontent messages on this post: it’s not a coincidence.
Shop are not good only because they sell pretty parts: a shop MUST assume sending the orders, following the orders, informing the customers. Because customers want to RECEIVE the pretty parts !
If you don’t do that, you must sell localy and not have a Worldwide activity.
Some of you received the part’s later (1or 2 month later) and are telling: “oh, It’s cool, I’ve received the parts, it’s not a so bad shop”. For me, they are wrong.

The case I’m explaining, nobody on this forum can tell this is NORMAL

But……..what can we do…….
;-(
Thanks

Your right, it's not normal, it's not right, and that is why after everything was finally settled with my order I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN.. Nor will I recommend them to someone else

I called today to check on my pop-out latches, which were due in last Monday, and was told they were there and would be shipped out today. I'll call Monday to get a tracking#. We'll see!!!!!!!!!!!

Parts arrived today much to my surprise. I guess my experience wasn't as bad as most but I will definetly steer clear of BFY in the future.

69SquareGuy Tue Oct 14, 2008 5:21 pm

for the most part, i like BFY. because they are literally 5 minutes away from my house, it's easy to stop by BFY for a quick bulb or something. however, they were going to do the seals on my doors but never called me back for my appointment. :( sometimes i'll go in without even getting a "hello" while i'm there...those are my only complaints. ISP is expensive, but anthony sure helps me out with anything i need. ANYTHING...

At least BFY is on this forum and actually seems to care about the issues. Crying and explaining why your company sells mexican/brazilian crap or any other crap does not impress me. I always remember that going to any business to buy parts is purely a business transaction. I have the money, they want the money and if they piss one person off out of 100 then they can deal with that. I doesnt take a manager or owner of a business to take responsiblilty for selling people crap. It all comes down to the guy or gal behind the counter or phone to make the right decision on behalf of the company. Thats where the business is done and the money/parts are exchanged. That is the most critical part of any business and that is the part that tells you if the worker actually cares about his job/manager. If the manager or owner doesnt care then why should the dude behind the counter. He gets paid the same no matter what service he provides. BFY needs to stop crying about their business and how hard they are trying and make an honest effort to sell a quality product! I try to buy original parts from other VW owners. It only takes a little work to make that old chrome shine or that solid metal right again. VW owners are dropping like flies anyway. They made parts to last forever in the 50's 60's and 70's. It may not look perfect or show quality but i bought my VW for its history and nothing else and no, my VW does not look like crap.

angelo70bug wrote: At least BFY is on this forum and actually seems to care about the issues. They haven't replied to this thread in ages and caring about complaints hasn't been my experience with them at all. They only seem to care when you are calling your bank to file a complaint or are threatening to do so ](*,)

I don't see any evidence for your statement above. BFY seems to have two accounts here:

BFY Obsolete Parts (Profile here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=34651 )

And

darren@bfy (Profile here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=32669).

The BFY Obsolete Parts username seems to have posted a grand total of 3 posts. See these post here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/search.php?search_author=BFY+Obsolete+Parts . Of these posts only one appears in the Buyer and Seller Feedback thread for BFY. That post was made Dec 23rd, 2004. The other two post are from Oct 2007 and Sep 2007.

The darren@bfy username has made zero posts to date. From this I see absolutely nothing to support your assertion that "At least BFY is on this forum and actually seems to care about the issues". To the contrary, they appear to barely participate at all and seemingly could not care less about the issues that their customers are having.

As far as customer complaints, most do not appear to be about the "mexican/brazilian crap" they sell (almost every VW part seller has to sell some of this due to the lack of quality suppliers for some parts) but rather the constant lying about when items have shipped (in reality not shipped), refusing to give out tracking numbers, and in some cases taking customers money and absolutely failing to deliver the purchased merchandise (which is theft, plain and simple). Most people can put up with an item being back ordered IF you are honest with them on when you expect to get the item back in stock and when it will be shipped. I see numerous incidents of serial lying about items having been shipped and "problems with the carrier". This is BS pure and simple. I see no other large ACVW parts seller who has this consistently high level of complaints. Seriously, these guys appear to be aspiring to the infamous GEX level of honesty and customer support.

I've asked before and still wonder - What the hell happened to them? I remember a decade or more ago when BFY was a well respected seller of ACVW parts and accessories. They weren't the absolute best but they were far, far from the worst. All in all, BFY was perceived to be a reasonable place to buy parts for your air cooled VW. I was out of the scene for a while so I don't know when the downward slide happened, but it is like night and day between BFY's customer perception now and what it was some time back. Did they change ownership or management? Whatever happened, they seem to be headed to the bottom at breakneck speed. I've got to believe that the word has gotten out to the point where it is hurting their business, whether they would admit that to themselves or not.

engineerscott Tue Oct 14, 2008 9:52 pm

You know, scanning through this entire thread is revealing. This thread was started in Dec 2004 and BFY was getting generally good reviews back then. As you continue reading that appears to start changing for the worse sometime mid to late 2007. Very interesting, BFY has generally satisfied customers from 2004 to middle of 2007. Sometime in Q3/Q4 of 2007 things start to go south. Still some satisfied customers leaving comments but more and more negative reviews are appearing. By early 2008 things seems to swing fairly dramatically towards many unsatisfied customers and continue downhill till this date. Kinda makes you wonder what happened at BFY mid to late 2007? Anyone got any ideas?
