I ordered a bunch of stuff from them some time ago.
My card was charged right away.
Didnt see anything for a week or so, so I called. I was told 'my items' were shipping the following day.
After another call a few days later, and also speaking to I think 4 different people "who I needed to speak to about it", I was assured my stuff was now on its way.
So I get a tracking number.
Which is for some items already received in CA, and im in RI without a parcel.
So I call back. Get another track number, which now comes up with a UPS delivery scheduled for pick up tomorrow... hmm, NOW its on its way.
I get the order, most of the stuff is not there, and a note in it says " the rest of your items will ship at a later date". Nice.
So I call back again, and ask politely, WTF
They tell me these items will be in in the next few weeks. Darren tells me "we buy rubbers in bulk" which apparently explained to me the delay!
I let them know that they are not supposed to charge me for stuff they dont have, and ask to be refunded, for the missing stuff and the shipping, as I now have to go elsewhere and get the stuff shipped from them.
The refund went through after a few days, but only after threatening to call my bank and cancel the payment, as they charged for items not delivered. I guess this hurried them along a bit. When I called to get the refund, I am told they have 1 pop out knob in stock, which was a missing item from my order. I ask why I didnt get it if its on the shelf. He tells me it must have just come in. Apparently they only buy rubbers in bulk, not items like plastic f@#king knobs...
Customer service is a complete joke, and it seems Darren has no problem taking money for stuff they obviously dont have.
BFY did have a good rep, but it seems it's turned to sh!t in a big way... |

| I am still waiting on half of an order I started on Sept. 8 2008! I keep getting excuses on why its not in stock or why it has not shipped. I will never use these guys again!! I would not recommend them to anyone. What a way to run a business keep it up you will run it into the ground. |

| Here's another complaint for them, as if there weren't enough already. I ordered 4 grey lap belts back in July 08'. Recieved my order (had a big order from them) but no belts... I was charged for the entire order at the time. I called to find out where my belts were, was told that they would be in, in 4 weeks! I didn't want to wait that long, so canceled my order. I re-ordered them with Wolfsburg West (Thanks guys!). 2 1/2 months later...seat belts from BFY show up! I went back to check my card for a refund, and BFY never refunded me the money, OR canceled the order!!! I played phone tag with them for 2 FREAKIN' weeks to get my card refunded the money! And that was AFTER I sent back their belts!!!! WOW, Here's yet another customer GONE for life! |

| I've dealt with them on several occasions during the last couple months and had no problem. However, this thread makes me nervous since they are now the closest parts place to me since Blimp and Mike's Parts and Performance just went out of business in rapid succession. Now do I make the drive to Corona for WW at premium prices or mailorder from Ronnie at Old Volks? |

ALL of the problems that people have had with them are ordering online or over the phone... As far as being there in person, well if they have the part and put it in your hand I don't really see an issue.. other than the fact that there is a possibility that they will go out of business in the future if they don't turn around the shipping part of their business...
and with that said, I have no plans of ever ordering anything from them again due to my bad experience... |

| Yeah, the parts in your hand thing is cool....But in no way do I want to support a business where customers are getting jerked around and lied to. God forbid I have a problem with a part and need to go back in, then I'm the one getting jerked and lied to.....I support my Samba peeps! |

I just registered for this website I have used many times to find information on different subjects. Unfortunately I did not use reference this website before I orders from BRYobsoleteparts. If I had I would not have ordered from them as I wish I had not.
On October 7th of this year I ordered a tow bar for a 1973 beetle online. I never received a shipping confirmation or tracking number. I called three times before today and was told that it would ship that day and that I would receive a shipping confirmation and tracking number via e-mail that day. Well, if it had shipped three times I would have three tow bars sitting in my garage with two waiting to be sent back to them. I explained to them both times that I would be moving in the near future and that was how I would be moving my Beetle. All they could do was assure me that it would ship today.
I called today and was told once that it would ship today. Called back and was told that fedex sent to my billing address accidentally, and they would fix it immediately. So, at this point I'm quite ticked. I call fedex they informed me that they had nothing in their system that was supposed to be shipped to me, my billing address, or my shipping address. Next, I call my credit card they tell me that if I don't receive I should report them to the fraud division and reverse the charge. I call them back and inform them that fedex has nothing in their system for me and the credit card company said my card was charged the day the tow bar was ordered and they want me to report them to the fraud division.
All in all I am very displeased, and while they assured me once again that this had been fixed, still blaming it on fedex, that my order would be here by next weekend. I told them that was fine but if it wasn't here by next weekend I was reversing the charge on my card and reporting them to the fraud division at the credit card company.
They assured me again that this would not be necessary and that I would receive a shipping confirmation and tracking number and to call them if it didn't arrive on time.
Unfortunately I'm sure that when I call next week I will get the same line of BS from numerous people, and I will still not have a tow bar. Whether I get the tow bar in time or not I will not be ordering from this website ever again.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to order a tow bar from as BFY was the only place that I found one. I am still moving in two weeks and I would rather not have to rent a car dolly or car trailer. Thanks for the help. |

Wait! There's more!
You will still probably get the order in a few weeks and never get the refund. It's the gift that keeps on giving!
I'm a very happy customer of CIP. Just placed yet another happy order with them. Probably over $1500 spend this year so far! |

I dont doubt it! I'll be calling my credit card company.
Unfortunately there are very few companies that will ship USPS to me here in Hawaii (they only ship UPS or FEDEX), CIP is one of them. $80 to ship a $12 part is a bit much!!! |

On September 2, I ordered these engine compartment panels from them, along with the rear bumper mount/quarter panel.
After a couple of weeks, when I hadn't seen anything, I emailed them and was told that they were not in stock but were on order. The parts would be coming in but it would take a couple of weeks. I was told they could send the quarter panel first and would sent the engine compartment panel later. At least I could keep going, if I had the one part.
Last week, after not having received anything, I emailed for another status update.
They stopped replying. What's going on over there?
I'm all for supporting ACVW businesses and realize that you can't possibly keep all parts in stock but it seems like we're taken for granted by some of them.
If parts aren't available, don't charge my card and give me the option of canceling the entire or partial order. |

I recently ordered from them, too, without checking here.
My first beef was when I tried to order on line... it loaded up my shopping cart, but I couldn't check out. Oh well, I called them.
I figured they'd look at the order on line, and make it go through. I assumed, wrongly, that the guy on the other end of the phone could use his computer mojo and see my order. He wanted me to read everything to him, and he would enter it in. When I questioned him about it, he asked me for my log in and password, then HE logged in as me, so he could see my shopping cart.
1st problem: Their IT department is broke.
I didn't do the math at the time, but if my order doesn't go through on line, I cant check status on line, or get a copy of the order emailed to me, etc... So it's hard for me to verify that the order went in correct.
I ordered about $600 worth of stuff, including a ragtop for my '61. The stuff they had in stock shipped pretty quick (about two or three weeks). Not as quick as I hoped, but quick enough. Nothing about back order status, or anything, but I got some stuff.
They told me when I ordered the rag top would take a week or so to ship, because it was made to order. Fair enough.
Of course, no ragtop when the order shipped. I figured I'd give it a few weeks... and still, no rag top. I called them, and they said they were having a problem with their supplier, but it should ship soon. A few weeks later, I call and the same story. OK, I'm done.
I kept forgetting to call and cancel the order, and I finally remembered one day while I was at work. Rather than lead off with 'cancel my order', I figured I'd 'check the status' of my order, because I couldn't remember what all I ordered, and wanted to be remineded so I could get it from WW (who shipped FLOOR PANS and other stuff that arrived in TWO DAYS!!!). When I called to check, the guy told me "It's in, so it should ship today". Wow, ok. What is it? Well, I don't know, let me get you someone who can tell you what we're shipping. Hello? I have your tracking number... Well, I wasn't looking for a tracking number, I was looking for a list of what I ordered...." They couldn't tell me.
It's been about three months since I ordered, and the most recent call happened today. I HOPE I get what I ordered. We'll see. |

Same here, I ordered without coming here first. 90 days and countless unreplied emails later, I finally receive my order.
Apart from the lousy service and the runabout I was given trying to get the status of my order, here are the other problems unresolved.
Problem #1, MISSING PARTS. I ordered 9 items, received 7. Emailed to ask. No reply.
Problem #2, WRONG PART. Ordered a pair of lowered shocks. Received a stock length shock. Emailed to ask. No reply.
Problem #3, WRONG PART, again. Ordered a pair of CB Performance Dropped spindles. Received a cheap alternative that obviously isn't from CB performance and definitely not what I paid for. Emailed to ask. No reply.
Now if this isn't cheating, I don't know what is. Is there any way I can resolve this? |

Call them, ask for Darren, 1-800-789-0900, explain to him the same things you're telling venting about in your message.
Regarding the CB Performance stuff, go directly to their site for parts. Their prices are very competitive. |

Call them? WTF? Dude, try ordering about $500 worth of stuff from BFY. Then, after about 6 weeks of waiting, "Call them, ask for Darren, 1-800-789-0900..." and complain. I can't believe these guys are still in business. It's utterly astonishing. |
