I'm a first time VW owner. I have a '67 Wastfalia and am looking at purchasing a new engine. I'd LOOOVE some information on a few reputable and price concious places to buy a new engine.

If it helps I'm looking for about a 19+cc to pull a trailer with, dual carb, and either all or mostly new. I'm located in Provo, Utah. Thanks!

Where are you?

Stay away from GEX. Use a local shop that is licensed and will give you a written warranty

Better yet, build your own motor and have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. I'm still running on a 1904 that I built a year ago and so far so good. You learn so much during the process.

Since you are in a bus and you want to pull a trailer, I would go with either a 74mm stroke with 88mach in bore for 1800cc's, or a 74 stroke with 90.5 bore for 1904cc's. Both of these combos should be what I would consider "load friendly", meaning they will be pretty robust and not prone to overheating damage.
