I might have found an early porsche.. a -57 356A, 1600. It has been of the road for a long time (since '70s), and I haven't seen the car yet. But I was wondering how much is a fair/common price for what I think is a really rough project. Probably rusty as hell and missing the bumpers. Should I back off if it is too bad? Because I mean, these are rare cars, so maybe this is my only chance to get one.
Another Q; what kind of taillights is this car supposed to have. This car apperantly has the cat-eyes. I thought it should have two little round ones? |

If it's a Coupe, no more than $4k. Rust & no bumpers can easily add over $3k to the equation when it's time to purchase. 57s have what are known as low-bow overriders and are very hard to come by. The rear bow is a single bow rather than dual.
If it's a Cabrio, then $15k wouldn't be too much. Open top cars are worth big $$$ in the automotive world, Early cars more-so.
A Porsche built prior to March '57 will have dual tear drop taillights. If it's earlier, it'll have (4) "Bee hive" taillights |

Thanks for that info! Yeah, this is a coupe. Too bad about those bumpers... I'll see if I can get some pics of this and put them up. I'll post them here if I do.
Happy New Year to all of you! \:D/ |

although i am somewhat behind on this post....maybe you could still put up some pics.
car may easily be worth more than 4k....depends how bad the rust is and where. 356 A's are rocketing in value, and becoming a lot more harder to find now adays (way more than B's or C's)
good thing about a coupe is that most people know it is a real car...unlike convertible 356's which are replicated all the time. |
