Thought I'd post up some of my VW's.

here's my highroof I just bought from Denmark. Should be arriving in the states in February. 1965 ex-Danish military. (Was originally used to deliver uniforms) Original 1500 with governer. Factory 12 volt option. (I think) Original olive drab dash. highroof cab divider (try finding one of those at your next swap meet!)

Expect to see this bus at BBXII

And here's my '57 oval ragtop bug. According to thesamba vw terms dictionary, this is the definitive ragtop  http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/dic/r.php

I'm currently rebuilding the 36hp engine.

here's my '61 flipseat westy. This bus sat in the woods for at least 12 years before I dragged it out, slammed it and got it running. I've driven this bus to the last two Bulli Brigades in tampa, FL. 2000 miles round trip each time. This first pic is at a truck stop in South Carolina, replacing a busted oil cooler.

here's my '60 panel I've had for 8 years now. I just sold it last week. Read about a trip I took in this bus here:

thx, uz.
It's actually not a westy hitch, but some other similar brand, I'm told.

I thought about slamming this one, but I think I'll just rock it stock height for now. Keep it with that rugged military look. I thought about putting a set of 15s on there with these:

but they look like they're probably not so great on the highway.

highroof update:

the hochdach made its first trip down to everybus 2005 this past weekend. Ran fantastic, besides needing new rubber brake hoses, and some issues with the generator....

I've started wet sanding the bus back down to OG danish army green....it's coming up really nicely, but it will be a long, slow process.

and a 1776 is being built for her now, and i'm on the wait list for a jeremyrockjock hurst.

Things are moving!

Nice fleet, really like the high roof.

good collection. Looks like a fair bit of sanding on the high roof still

rusbus Sun May 07, 2006 6:59 pm

Did my first rust replacement today on the highroof.

Before:

After:

All in all, not too bad. I need to spend more time with the angle grinder to smooth it out, and I think there's still a few pinholes that need filling.

You need a new pic with the hurst on there!
:)
