I've a '66 Bug and the Sunroof doesn't work. The crank would just spin and grind. I took the assembly appart to try to figure it out. The peice that the handle attaches to with the gears on it looks fine and the gears do not look stripped. I looked up inside the center guide piece where the gear from the handle peice fit in and it looks like there is some cable up there that looks like it might be stripped. I dont really understand how the whole mechanism works and if somebody could explain that to me that would be awesome. What kind of cables are there? What suggestions do you have in order to restore this?
