I just got a set of whitewall add-ons (the white rubber rings you attach to the tire), but the directions are all in German.
Does anybody know the best way to attach them, i.e. the adhesive to use and maybe a recommendation of a cleaning product for the tires first?
Any help at all is truly appreciated.
Also, not to be rude, but I realize many out there don't like add-ons. Well, I don't have the money for whitewalls, so unless you're going to send me some or the money to get 'em, please don't recommend I should get those.
Thanks! |

I could be wrong, but I believe those go in the bead of the tire. In other words, the bead has to be broken on the outside of the tire like you are taking the trie off the rim, then slide the whitewall on the bead and reinflate the tire. When it's all said and done, the whitewall is pressed between the rubber of the tire and the inside of the rim.
I think :? . |

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I thought I was buying the kind you are referring to, but when they got here they are instead the other kind, the ones you seem to glue on.
I don't know what is better, but I'm stuck with the glue on kind with german instructions.
Thanks for the help, though!

I ran a set of port-a-walls for 3 years and I need to issue a warning here.
The kind that say ATLAS on them were great. They withstood the extreme temps here in Tucson and lasted more than 2 years.
The kind that say OMEGA fell apart in 5 months! They turned yellowish and had these smeary streaks. They flopped out of shape and made my car http://www.58vw.com feel fat and ugly.....(she told me so)
That's my experience...others may have had a different experience.
