Can anybody give me a hint where to find chassis numbers (1st/last per year) for Beetles assembled in VW plant in Sarajevo, former Yugoslavia (models 1200J, 1300J and 1303J).
Beetles were assembled there from 1972 to 1976, but I can't find precise dates (start/end of production).
Any help is appreciated, thanx

The chassis number will be pressed into the pan in the area below the rear seat.
If you're trying to find out the place of birth of your particular car, you'll have to write the VW Museum in Germany. |

Nope! The problem is that they have german numbers (plant in Sarajevo was just an assembly line) so nobody can't distinct them from those assembled in Wolfsburg. Production in Sarajevo started in 1972 and lasted 'till 1976, and the assembly in Wolfsburg was discontinued in 1974. Thats why I'm searching precise dates to try to figure out the offset in chassis numbers. |
