i am the third owner of a 57 a found a couple of years back. was sitting in tall grass for some time. the car was driven from denver to la often and has around 265k miles on it. i started collecting parts to restore the car and am now more or less at the point of the body work to be done. i will need to replace the raer apron and a section of the heater channel and the pan halves as well. i can not find a reliable body guy that will take care of things promptly so i am learning to weld. in a nutshell is it worth saving or should i find another car or body with out rust?

Take your time and save it. If you feel very strongly against doing the work yourself, and have no other attachment to the car, then you might want to resell and look for a more solid one. $.02

have more time than $$. i enjoy working on the car so in no hurry. can not decide which way to take the car. i like stock, but performance is always a good thing. will keep scoring assories for the car for now. hard to find items seem to get more expensive than the cars

The Resto-Custom grouping would be a consideration. Stock body with full chrome, but with a lowered or aggressive stance, powered by a larger motor.

Yes, cars are worth more in parts or in the accessories themselves
