He had a baby raccoon last year, told me that he had a whole litter. Also mentioned that he had a pet Dingo for 9 or 10 years and that she helped raise the raccoons.

Guess the dude likes animals a lot. That fox was cute though

Nicest guy in the world. I spent a good amount of time talking to him this year, this fox he picked up from a breeder in Ohio.

where does this guy come up with these animals? he had this story about the raccoon about it's mother abandoning it and it was under his porch all dehydrated and grumpy. does he have some stray wild animal rescue and reentry program or is he a hillbilly picking up wild pets? nice guy and all but....

I'm thinking of going... haven't been before, but I just finished body work and paint on my bay window, and anxious to take a little trip. I'm about 4 1/2 hours away and would like to head there Saturday afternoon/evening. Does anybody know if there's a camper-friendly Walmart nearby or another place to park and crash Saturday night, without hassle?

Big thanks to everyone who came out. Another great year, the weather was nice and the rain held out literally until the last bus left the property. Good to have everyone at the open house, everyone seemed to love the new location's setup and had a good time.

This was on Saturday, weather not so great, but it was a good swap meet all in all. Thanks to Randy at KMS.

I know this will most likely get moved to general discussion, but the Buses were too nice. Al Huva had his version of PG/SG there and RHD Johnny had his sweet Bus there too.
I met some really nice people, sold some stuff, just too bad I had to leave early.

Can't wait for the next event.

No, you can't use a '71 beam. You will need a '68-'69 beam, then a set of later '71-'79 spindles will be a direct bolt-in. The frame mounting bolt pattern changed in '70. I have a really nice '69 beam in the barn if you want to go that route. This swap also converts to balljoints and you gain a much smoother ride. I've always thought I would find another splitwindow and keep the RGB tranny and and use this beam I have stashed, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

it is always suggested to pre-register for this show and then show up either Friday or very early Saturday morning - as stated above, with the limited space available, not showing up to claim your spot will mean you are vacating it...

in past years, I've always shown up Friday night for the free BBQ (free if you pre-register) the club provides and I stay at the host hotel (get your reservations NOW if not done already) because when the rain/heat occur (like they do every year), it's nice to be able to walk back up the hill and stand in your air-conditioned room for a bit....

This is what I would recommend. If they do not have pre-registration this year - and this is possible since I have heard that a new group of people are now putting this show on - show up as soon as you can on Friday night.

If you cannot make it Friday then real early Saturday. They are limited in space to I think 200 cars so even if they do pre-register cars if you show up late and they are full you are SOL.

Big props to all the monkey nut peeps!

I literally can't count all the times this weekend I laughed so hard that I one of the following:
a) almost spit out food or beer
b) couldn't work a camera
c) cried
d) couldn't breathe

Also, your new shop floor is quite comfortable.

I'm exhausted and back at work. Today is outside window washing day so I get to see someone dangling by a rope from the top of a 50 story building. Its really the only thing keeping me awake at this point.

Hey man, is that an old Carl Ziess, Wild or a Lieca? Looks about 40-50 years old. That's my field of expertise. I love seeing those old instruments.

It's a like new Keuffel & Esser! Accurate to one thousands of an inch!

But since I wasn't building an airliner, figure level ground to less than a half inch should be good enough!

Doing things the old school way! They don't even use optical tilt levels and transits for aerospace any more except for the most basic setups. The "hi tech" now is laser trackers and that is even "old" too! We have this patented camera technology now that uses "targets" placed around a fixture and/or part, then you take pictures around it like you would with any camera, but the digital pictures are totally "scaled". We use a certified "template" to calibrate the camera. It's quite the clever thing and as such the manufacturer won't give you the "secret" as to just exactly how it works!

I too love the old school tooling. Should snap pix of the old ass transit I also have. They just don't make anything like they used to anymore!

The story on this particular juan is that it was like new in the box but had no ID number when it showed up in the calibration lab. Then too many people started "claiming it" creating a bit of a problem. To the point that our manager at the time told us to "make it go away!" So I did!

There is the Deutschland Dubs in the Peninsula/San Mateo/Milbrae area that meets every 2nd & last Friday of the month in Milbrae.
Address is 49 El Camino Real (at Millbrae Ave.)

Deutschland Dubs meets on the 2nd and Last Friday of the month for a short cruise.
El Camino Real & Millbrae Ave. at the old Millbrae Theater.
6:30 to 8:30, then we roll. ~ Sure, it's an aircooled VW club, but everyone is welcome.

A question for all the Miami VW people. Would any of you be interested in getting together once a month? The thought I had was to go to different locations every month with people who enjoy driving there VWs. I know there are some clubs here but they always go to the same Cruise Ins and it would be more fun to change it up every month and go someplace new each time. We could set up a Poll every month and pick which place and date to go. Just thought it would be cool to show up at the beach, a bar, or great place to eat with a bunch of VW's.

Had a blast. Glad we made the trip from Florida. Went through 4 fuel filters on the way home and a bunch of rain with no wipers.

New gas tank is on the list of things to buy next for my Bus.

Wow I had a great time with you all yesterday,Sorry Chad I couldn't get mine to 100mph on straightaway,and my arms are hurting today from the gocarts they are sore,Hey we went 4 for 4 on trophys,i bet the other cars were jeloius of the VWs and MGs.When I left I went toward Inwood and remember the 1976 Dark Blue Nova,it was Tboned at Sheetz in Inwood minute before I got there.Sad.Wife said I can go to Bugout so I guess ill be going too.

Next up is Bug Out 73 in Petersburg, VA this year!

We will be meeting at the Ranson McDonalds at 2pm on Saturday, May 25th, then leaving very soon after to start the drive. Cook has a route in mind to keep us off the interstate. Cook, Sean and I have a hotel room reserved. If anyone else would like to go and try to stay at the same hotel, let me know and I can give you the name and phone#. Once there and settled into the hotel we will try to find a good place to eat for dinner and discuss what time we will be leaving to get to the Bug Out the next morning. On Sunday we will be leaving that afternoon (time not decided yet) to drive home.

Cook, Mike, Tom, Sean & I attended the Country Roads Car Show yesterday at Summit Point Motorsports Track. The weather was a little windy at times, but honestly it beats being really hot all day. We had an AWESOME time. Cook and Tom took the cars out on the track (I didn't go as I was afraid of rolling my car like I almost did last year, so I hung back and took photos and videos) and then we went on the go-karts. Again all the guys kicked my butt, but I held strong for a long time. Next year I'll get them!!!

The yard adjacent to the Garaj Mahal will work as an R&R area inbetween projects. So the ultimate deal here is a 10'x10' gazebo which I already have but the ground needs to be leveled beforehand. Also, there's just too much dirt so scaping of the land here is a must!

I say "almost" because obviously the gazebo ain't there yet! Says in its instructions that it takes about 4 hours for 6 guys to put it all together!!!

It is of steel construction and "the crew" is supposed to lift the assembled roof unto the legs!?!?!

Anyway, that's a whole project into itself and I'll try to assemble as much as I can on my own and then try to amass a crew to finish it off!

I snapped those pix ^^^ in order to go to wherever I had to so that this situation was rectified. However, as luck would have it, just this past week they showed up to re-pave the whole street!
