Thanks for the link. I never thought about just getting another window frame and making a window and fitting swamp cooler in that way. Looks nice, maybe a bit of work swapping window frames out but only have to do it when gets hot and then again when cools off. Now, I just need to figure out if it would be better to do the swamp cooler or add safari windows. Maybe even both so can have options? Something else to ponder on

Yeah stevenjames . . .

Years ago when I used to drive a 51 Split VW, I used a 2-65 air conditioner unit that came with the VW when I bought it.

It came in handy in the summer when I lived in National City and worked up in Rancho Bernardo. . . .

2 windows down and 65 miles per hour . . . .

If you take that numbers listed on the terminals and look at any VW wiring diagram, you can figure this out. Works for nearly all components and German vehicles of the era.

Yeah, that was how the one on my bug mounted but was hoping there were other kinds that would work. I may just be limited to window air. Something to consider since I still looking for the right Bus to start my project. Maybe go with a Kombi verses a Panel for more windows to open. My friend has front and rear safari windows on his Panel and gets good airflow while driving but is load and when really hot out only get more hot air. I just trying to see if can get something going to make the wife happy. Might come down to one of those spray bottles with a fan on it

Don't think a normal "swamp cooler" will work on a Split screen bus. The windows on aBus slide back/forth. Swamp coolers are usually fitted to door glass that roll up/down

If you want to go faster you'll have to spend a lot more for a trailer with modern hardware and design, not 1980's Frenchie bling. This thing falls apart at high speeds. Look for missing hardware, structural bolts coming out and your tag holder disappearing if you're going to abuse this in a way it was not designed to handle.

Does anyone know of a swamp cooler for split window busses? I had a swamp cooler that mounted in the window of my bug years back and it helped some. I now looking to get a split window bus nut also moving to area that gets pretty hot in summer and my wife already complains about the heat in VWs so thinking about another cooler . I have never seen one on a bus so don't even know if they exist. I don't want to put an a/c system into my bus either, don't even know if have those since going to run a 36hp engine. Any help would be appreciated. If all else fails will put in front and rear Safari windows and popouts for more airflow and try not to stop or slow down
