Thanks Glenn, I appreciate the offer to ship to Canada, but when I said I used to have a hard time locating parts that was quite a while ago. Now I have a great supplier in Canada who is very knowledgeable and has a large inventory of 25 and 36 hp parts. Plus I save all the cross border shipping and duty. (If anyone else is looking for a Canadian supplier, let me know and I'll hook you up with Rick Herity of Edmonton).

I been servicing vw's for 32 years now,and I have installed plenty of 009 dists in 36hp engine.(why be cheap and lazy you ask?) answer- because for a long while I couldn't locate tune up parts anywhere in western Canada,They were expensive and the car would sit around my compound forever. Screw that the 009 worked fine,you could buy parts anywhere,and I alway told the customer to keep the original dist.Aka The junk is in the trunk!Oh yeah If your 009 has a flat spot put your foot in it, And qwit drivin like a pussey.

Thanks John and Mister B. You've both been a great help

I'll start by looking for some appropriate belts and take it from there. And a very good point about the idler pulley meaning trouble free belt replacement John, I hadn't considered that at all.

I think for now I'll try to run without a pulley (if I can get the belts that is), just to get it up and on the road and then I�ll look into some tasteful period improvements if necessary.

Thanks again to both of your for your time and help. I'll post back on here when I have something to up date. Right, time to email Alejandro, you can never have too much knowledge on a subject!

Snapped a picture of Ronnie while he was busy on the machine. This project is a fun project and is kind of in between all of his customer work and the customer work I have at my shop. Whenever we have time we just try to get through 2-3 hours worth of work on the Vee.

nope they also made single point dizzy's

I have been told the single point are more desirable because the dual point's had a habit of the dwell going out of adjustment

The body work is pretty much done, now for some primmer and paint.

As Danny O was doing the body work I was milling out pieces for the sidedraft DCOE intake to supercharger and looking at how I'm going to make the supercharger to head manifold. Going to make a base plenum for the Pepco to set on with runners out to the heads. Haven't quite figured out how I'm going to make the head manifolds yet and out of what!

Time to get the engine to long block stage now that I have the heads back and start to work on the rest of the intake system.

Got all the 356 A brakes torn down and ready to bet the backing plates powder coated, rebuild the wheel cylinders and get parts mounted up.
I should have all next week free as I finish up a customers engine tomorrow and another customers beam and trans this week. Lot of freeging work.

I thought the offset was wrong on 1300-1600 rocker, I think the out side rocker will hit the head stands, you would also have to move the push rod tube up in the heads. I was going to use a hole saw and offset cut the PR tube hole and use the piece that I cut out to move the hole by rotating it 180� and weld it back in.
I wonder if you machine the shaft bosses off and use narrowed T1 stands

If You use the search button and put in( stock rocker arm ratios)you will find a great post discusing some of the challenges useing late rockers on a 36er. Let me know about the 1.2/1

I too thought they were all dual point. I dig the trehauft logo, they were one of my favorite mail order company's when I was young. I have one of these dist. too. Ive never run it. How do the compare to a 010 or 009 or any of the mech advance dists. Id like to know which is best for my big engine at bonneville this year.
