Can anyone tell me how low you can lower a sq/back without having an adjustable beam, and how? Thanks. Mine is lowered but would like it lower. |

This is detailed in the Type3 FAQ... I think its in a large, bold typeface right when you load it.

Ok you guys. What does a spline look like anyways? I have a Bentley and I cannot even figure out where to start. Not only that, every thread about this I look at contain terms like "spline", "inner", "degrees". Wow, can someone post a picture?

Thanks Russ.
I am about an hour into the passenger side front over here. People say to separate this bolt, but then there are like 3 bolts! I am uber confused but I hope to have my baby slammed by the nights end.

Yeah whatever... my passenger side is now "randomly" done... it looks friggin sweet. I just need to finish up the other side tomorrow in the morning, I am hoping I get the splines identical to the passenger side, which will be a low percentage considering I have no idea how many splines I turned

Now, grease the hell out of it when you are done. Those bearings in there are made from "unobtainium". _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Also, recheck the toe in. I've found if you lower it 2 or more splines, the toe in changes, and actually goes toe out. On average, they will go 1/2 inch toe out, which means you have to adjust both sides to get it back to 1/8th inch toe in. This can be done in about a 1/2 hour with a tape measure. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I finally finished. The drivers side look less than 45 minutes, and I even had crappy hand tools that didn't work right. The hardest part here is getting the ball joints/spindles back into place, that pretty much sucked.

Lookin' good! Funny how the first side takes forever, huh? The second side is sooooo much faster.

I was pretty skeered to try it, but using the instructions on this site me and 2 buddies did it in a couple of hours. Yeah, the first side does take longer than the second. I guess its the boost of confidance when you see how easy it was. Thanks just my .02 worth |
