Whats the difference between 16" bug wheels and 16" bus wheels? Will bus wheels fit under bug fenders?

Yes - I have seen Bus Rims on Bugs Before. I don't think there was any modifications but don't quote me on that one. You have to change the hubs on it though. If your going to put some rims on a Beetle, I'd suggest something a little more formuala sport style.
Good Luck!

Ya, they stick out wider, but they fit. What else besides a change of drum housing do they need - also for my own curiosity..

the beetle wheel was a 16" by 3" and the barndoor was a 16" by 3.5", the tyres would be a 5.00" crossply and 5.5" respectivley.

I own a 51 bug and a 54 barndoor. Smile
