Hello,

Having a bit of trouble with my turn signals...in that they aren't working at the moment. My car is a '65 though converted to 12v.

Here's the scoop. Turn signal stalk actuated either up or down (right or left) yields the following results: The indicator lights come on the guage (both, solidly) with no blinking and no lighting of the actual bulbs in the housings outside of the car and no clicking sound .

I've checked and replaced bulbs and checked fuses. The high beam switch on the column still functions BTW. Does this sound like a relay issue.

Thanks,
Robert

Check the grounds before condemning the relay.

Definately check your grounds. That's where many electrical gremlins live. There's a ground for the guage too. (At least mine has.)
After re-wiring my dash, Mad <- click I spent a couple weeks on signals alone.

Now I get this problem: My blinkers work fine, till I step on the brake. Then the dash indicator goes solid, and I believe the outside signals stop.
WTF? Mad Otherwise, all lights/indicators work fine.
I've almost have the wiring diagram memorized, but can't figure this out. Rolling Eyes

Wrong bulb in a brake socket, one taillamp wired wrong, or... a bad ground!

I had exactly the same problem the other day. I also thought the flashed was bad. I removed the flashed to get a number off it and then replaced, after this the system worked fine. Must have been dirty contact pins on the flasher.

With the conversion to 12V, what flasher unit did they use. An off the shelf from a local flaps, or did they go with the 12V -9 wire, or did they change out the steering column and are using a later 3 wire flasher unit??

I have a stock '71; of course it's 12 Volts and I believe still has the original flasher relay. The relay had 3 connections on the bottom where it plugged into the top of the fuse panel.

That's what mine was, and what I replaced it with.
I obviously still haven't got my wiring/grounds squared away. Now, the right side works, except on the brakes, and the left is totally out.
Back to the wiring diagram,,, Rolling Eyes

Also, I have a 68 T1 column. Does that make a diff?
