it is a possibility, some Type 3's had air conditioning in them.... I sold my original compressor off my fastback last year....
the question would be, however, why? _________________ póg mo thóin

I'm looking for more of a complete kit. Like the beetle A/C. Are they available? |

I used to install the AC at the dealers back in the 60's and 70's.
MY opinion?? Don't do it!!!
If you want a car with AC, buy a Honda that come from the factory with it. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Thanks for the link vujade.
Any reason I shouldn't Russ? I know the motor is small but South FL is HOT and HUMID and down here A/C is a necessity.
I plan to build a bigger motor later on but I need A/C before the summer comes. |

You have to invade the cooling system with holes to get a belt to drive the compressor, for one thing. Also puts an extra load on an already taxed engine. I know the newer compressors don't pull as much power, but every little bit hurts. _________________ Society is like stew. Russ- when you were installing them for VW were there A/C specific tins and other associated parts?
Is the underdash A/C in this other post a factory unit and if I needed to replace some internals would I be able to find new parts? |

From what I understand, the new ac compressors pull only 1 or 2 HP at
most. _________________ www.DaytonaWinterJam.com
