Is it a good idea to put a 2180cc motor in my 67 notchback. Will it be quick? |

No, build a 2110. The cylinder walls are too thin on 92s. If it is built right it will be quick. |

Not if you are going for the stock look.
Why do you want a bigger engine? What purpose? It won't be a Hon-duh killer if that's what you are planning for. And a more powerful engine will likely need a tranny rebuilt to handle the abuse. _________________ Toby http://www.aircoolednut.com/

I test drove a bug with an upgraded street tranny and a 2276. It scared the fuck out of me. Got nowhere near full throttle.
Would that big an engine be able to pop a wheelie in most VWs? _________________ My, you've been naughty. How.....Delicious.

The stock tranny is very tough and can take the abuse of a 2 liter. |

The stock tranny BEFORE the '70's will take the abuse. You will need to stiffen the final drive covers. There are kits to do that.
It was when the public started whining about the gear whine, that VW went to a finer tooth gear in 3rd and fourth. Those trannies wont stand the abuse.
Look at the split buses. Those are a 3/4 ton truck and they have the same tranny as the bug/T-3. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Be nice if they had a picture. We used steel side covers for drag racing. Those would help a lot, from their description. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

funny, i am driving a 1904 and a 2332 both on stock trannies... the key is to preload before you pop it wide open! _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I had a 2332 in my notch before I went to wrx power and it was very fast, but there is a lot of oiling and breather issues that came up. Ultimatly I wanted more reliability at those power levels so I started the challenging conversion to wrx power. _________________ (wrx) powered 65 notch.
