Ok, i cant locate the bolts that are holding the motor. are they attaching the motor to tranny or motor to frame. or both. and i'm having a hell of a time fitting under the bus. its lowered and i have it jacked up. was going to remove the bottom bolts, lower jack and then remove top.
where are the bolts at underneath? |

your motor is bolted to the tranny...the lower engine bolts are near the end of the frame horns they might be covered in greasy mud J _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FUDnVrMNnM |

just remember the bottom two are studs with nuts that attach to the engine case and the top two are nuts and bolts....the right one being one of the starter motor attaching bolts hope this doesn't confuse you J
oh and don't jack the bus by the engine or you will destroy your tranny mounts _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FUDnVrMNnM

did you read the post above, there should be nuts on the bottom, the studs are threaded into the case.
and you should have a full set of metric
p.s. buy a 17mm dogbone it will help in the tight spots _________________

i know this sounds novice but i must be dickin with the wrong nuts maybe??? when i reach around and feel (sounds like i'm headind someplace dirty) oh, i am....i feel a nut which faces hoirizontal to the ground and facing front of bus. feels quite a bit smaller than bootom ones. this it. its at an awkward angle to get the wrench on and i got a pointy fan shroud piercing my wrist.
bottoms already removed. |

make sure to take off your fuel line, throttle cable. heat cables, the top bolt on the starter side should have half round head on it so you dont need to but a wrench or socket on it, but if it isnt o.g. you may have to put a wrench on both sides,

it appears that the final bolt i need to remove on the starter side is behind the ckutch lever. is there a way to do this without removing the arm?
or is this going to be as difficult as it looks? |

Mikee,
there's a metal part of the tranny casting that prevents putting a socket on the bolt. This is a type 3 tranny i believe. the round donut type nut is behind the fan shroud. from the tranny side theres not enough room to get the box end wrench up there even if i took off the clutch lever i think. I'm kinda stuck here. everything else is off.
i'm at the end of my rope.
i'm baffled. |

I use a socket wrench with a really long extension. If it's a later engine with dog house setup, the bolt is threaded into the engine case. If it's not, there is a nut behind the fan shroud that needs to be removed. The head of the bolt that is behind the clutch arm is hard to get a good bite on sometimes. When I got mine out I welded a 17mm nut to the head of the bolt. Now the head is like an inch long and I never have a problem with it. |
