I don't really know anyone with a early model. Do these fit in the later model sqbks? You know, the lowback seats?

Is there any wleding and altering them?

European T3s came with lowbacks until the end.

i was told that the lowbacks dont just fit right into a late modle...i also have a 73' and i would really like to get some lowbacks for it...so does this mean that i can just go get some lowbacks out of any early modle and throw them right in?

I am parting out a 1968 Fasty that has early seats in it. They didn't quite fit the runners properly, plus you would have to fabricate a means to release the seatback. Early style seats had an interlock cable that was routed to a release when the door was opened.

Just convert your current seats by cutting off the top part of the seat frame. I've seen a few tech articles in Hot VW's.

Yeah, but he's got a '73. In late '72 they changed the seat mounts. Early lowbacks that are in the US won't fit. You have two choices: Cut the backs and turn them into lowbacks (not something I would do) or looks for Rabbit/Golf/Jetta/Scricco MKI seats and replace yours.

Well, well. Guess I missed that little bit of info in the title.
Actually, I'm just doing my part to prove that nobody knows it all....
Except Wolfie.

OK, so what if you have a '70, '71, or 72 model...Can you cut the seatbacks down on these? How hard would it be to find European spec 2nd gen Type 3 lowbacks?
