For me, I think it has to be nice og roof racks. I know they aren't anything special, but I just like the way the 10 slat wood racks look on a late 50's early 60's bug.

Any rare or sought-after piece I don't have. Once I get it in my collection, it obviously isn't that rare anymore Wink

univents for a bus are pretty trick.

could my okrasa be considered an accessory?

but my favorite would have to be my sun and moon horn button on my 3-spoke barndoor steering wheel (which is on my '61 bus). I wanted a sun and moon for years, and I finally picked up two of them in the last few years for very reasonable prices. ($70 & $100) I had kicked myself many times for passing up a $200 NOS one in the display case at Koch's years back.

For me, it would be anything that has to do with the dashboard.

With that i mean that whenever you are driving your car, the one thing that pops right in your face is the dash, with that I mean:

*The steering wheel
*The instruments
*Flower bud vase
*Radio.

To me it's like looking on a beautyfull girl, I mean many of you guys probably reather look at a beautyfull girl than on an ugly one correct?

Well I rather look at a beautyfull dashboard than on a stock dash like everybody has.

You would prefer an extraodinary girl over a plain girl I am sure, it's the same with dashboards. :O) sorry if it's a strange comparision.

It's the KILLER WAY, all you need is to replace the center clock with the same diameter moto meter AMP gauge and install the NOS kienzle ashtray clock you have :O), then it would be even more killer.

Bob you have killer stuff there, BTW Birgitte sais hallo...

The Kienzle Ash Tray clock is NOS and in the box........it won't be going into the '53, but I do have an NOS Kienzle Mirror clock that is going into the car as soon as I find the amp gauge...........(anybody want to sell me a 60mm MotoMeter amp gauge?)

I have a thing for aftermarket wide 5 wheels and different types of gauges are fun to collect, but I'd have to say I like best my set of maico disk brakes and several of my superchargers. Then again, anything in it's original box with instructions rates fairly high on my scale.

While my favorite will always be #1, its alot harder than you think to pick one, so here are also my "top 10". Would like to see other's "top 10" since there are/were so many fantastic accessories made.

TOP 10:

1. Telefunken IA50 "Lightning Bolt" pod radio
2. Any 3 or 5 piece original beetle specific luggage set
3. Petri Batwing horn ring
4. Split beetle glovebox door clock (small clock matching brown speedo face)
5. Kienzle ashtray clock for oval beetles
6. Kienzle rear view mirror clock for oval beetles
7. Petri Banjo steering wheel ONLY with 3 spoke horn ring
8. PERO St. Christopher "wings" split beetle glovebox doors (shown on Stoll coupe)

10. Allstate tag a long single wheel trailer

Other honorable mentions:

1. Dehne fuel gage - simple, interesting, and elegant
2. Bambus parcel tray - nice looking and SO useful!
3. Schenk stickshift ashtray - clever design, real curiousity item
4. Zacarius roof rack - perhaps the most beautiful roof rack ever made
