I just picked up a 67 ghia. I am starting to work on it. It has a new set of 165R15 all around, but the clearance at rear fenders is close. I checked the torsion spring and it is set at manuel. Can I change the angle of the torsion spring more than the manuel states? And if I do will it affect any thing else? What is the stock tire?
Thanks |

One of the advantages of the torsion rods is you can index them to how you want the car to ride. If you need some clearance for tire height, then go for it. Might take a day of playing with it, but adjusting them shouldn't affect ride or performance. _________________ -

Speedo,
165R15's are the stock size. I don't know why you would have rubbing probs. with the stock tires. Unless the rear is really sagging. Did you use an angle finder on the plates? |

I too have a 67. As with many other "unique" attributes of this year the rear track is about one inch wider on a 67 Ghia . THis was done to help reduce wheel tucking and was used in conjunction with the equalizer ( z-bar) spring. 165's will rub a little over big bumps. Stock wheel width is 4.5 in. and a 155 tire size. Maybe you have 5.5 in. wheels ? You can swap the axle shafts out with 66 or earlier. Kind of a pain though but you can run wider wheels. _________________ Retired Sambanista |
