White wall tires and rim inserts

On some of the vintage Bugs I've seen a colored rim insert that sort of surrounds the chrome moon cap. So, if you were looking from the front it would go - moon cap, then colored insert behind the cap, then the actual rim. Does this require a special rim or will it work on the stock rims that came with my Thing? Are they readily available?

Also, does anyone have a good source for white wall tires?

When I purchased my Thing it had some Firestone White Walls. They looked neat if you are into that kind of thing but they were so worn out I quickly installed new tires. Here is what a Thing looks like with White Walls.

Thanks for the pic. I remember it from a previous post. Maybe that's where I got the idea that I liked them!

The albino Thing. Laughing all white. It looked kinda cool and if they were in good shape, I would have ran them but since they were beat, I have non white walls now. tj
