Fake rust? Rolling Eyes What next? Fools will start cutting out sections of their buses to make it look like "real" body rot? How about kicking in the sides to add that distressed look?

Anyone have locating info for RUSTBOX? I'm having a hard time finding anything to post it here. Confused

I know they moved from Ventura to Visalia, (what's with the "V" Confused ), but the one thing Jason specializes on is indeed the rust "look". Wink

I think you could achieve the same effect by misting different colors of spray paint over a base coat.

I seriously doubt it looks surface rusty in person. Surface rust has texture, not just color.

If I'm not mistaken, Jayson also did the front fiberglass "clip" for the monster garage bug to make it look rusty. Cool

I think JJ's painter Pete did the paint on the drag bug.

It reminds me that people, including wealthy ones, used to cut holes in their jeans, and even new ones came with holes in them. The ghetto look was in.
I've seen ads for buses offered forsale on the internet where the owners seemed to be braging about the dents and rust on the bodies, and implying that it made them worth more money. Confused

i like the rust, but i hate seeing my bus rusting out more!

there is also another advantage, the glossy paint requires perfect preparation ($) while this kind of look allows for minimal flattening of the bondo/welds
.
I see it only as a temp paint that looks strange... waiting for a future serious resto

I'd make my own. Equal parts Sulfuric acid, Phosphoric acid, and Sodium Chloride. Spray entire bus every day and let it sit in the shade until desired effect is achieved. Wear gloves, rubber suit, and full helmet.

Please don't, as I'm kidding.

I heard there is a solution that you can mix part sea salt part water part something else... then just brush it on.. I myself love the color and texture the "real rust" creates but I don't like the results. I build custom Bicycles and one model has a paint theme of rust on white. I'm rebuilding the site so check back and you can see the pics of the bike.. It's the nuckle dragger model. www.secondhandbillies.com
