If any of you are interested in BMX (anything from the early 80's to current) you need to check out "Joe Kid on a Stingray" it's the "Dogtown and Z Boys" of BMX

shit, I saved up paper route money in 1975 for about 6 months so I could buy one of these...Matthews Monoshock!
I loved that bike. I didn't have the moto-mags, those things are heavy! Some f*cker stole it a few years later. I'm looking for one now, just to have. Rode a Redline after that, and then a Torker. _________________ My '66 RHD Japanese bug build..

two of my friends raced in that movie...said that starting line was an intense drop. One raced for GT and the other for Powerlite at the time. |

Who had a Schwinn Predator, PK Ripper or the Diamondback Viper? Those are some classics right there. _________________ 1947 Type 11a

Oh yes Harry Leary. All Black leathers with "Harry" embroidered on the ass. The Diamondback Turbo was the top of the line model. Bike cost $500 back in '82 which was alot of money. _________________ 1947 Type 11a

The bike I ride every day is a old school 24" Predator. Didn't care for Schwinns back when I was a kid. My first bike was a Raleigh R11. From there I had a Race Inc.(sold) JMC Black Shadow (stolen) 3 different National Pro's (sponsorship) , and my last one was my Quadangle.
Diamondbacks were real popular with a lot of kids in my area. Harry Leary and Pete Loncarovich came thru town one time and everybody had to have one. The Hutch team came around for a track opening and Timmy Judge got pulled over in his Trans Am smoking a joint. So the team had to cancel the appearance. _________________ Currently without a VW and looking for a pre 67 truck or Kombi |

That is funny as hell.Wonder if he had a mullet and def leppard on his stereo at the time.
I saw Pete Loncarovich at the Vans sk8park,orange. a few years ago.BIG,he does ultimate fighting. Not a dude you'd want to tangle with. |

I myself had a Super X; it was a cro-mo knockoff of the basic Mongoose design but with one gusset on the head tube/top tube/down tube junction instead of two. Mine was yellow and had chrome Tange bent forks, and Ashtabula cranks, IIRC. The year was 1976... School chums and I used to compete in our own ad hoc "Tuff Bike" competition at our elementary school. One of the events was to ride straight into the wall on the side of Room A2 at John Muir Elementary in Modesto, CA. The loser was the guy whose forks bent. The Tange was never defeated...
I now ride mountain bikes rather alot - my current rides are a full XTR-spec Santa Cruz Blur and a Marin Pine Mountain set up singlespeed. I avoid riding into walls now. _________________ Dave Ruby |

I used to have a kick butt PK Ripper. Man.....those are some great memories of waking up early and riding all day, setting up ramps in the street, learning new street tricks and riding to the track to tear it up.

Just found this thread. I love this topic. I used to ride for factory Bandito Here is Socal in the 80s and I still have my 24 inch racing cruser with the cool CW bars and the dual dropouts. I took it to BBB this year and had a ton of people ask about it. OG as it was when I raced it except the seat. here's some pics

White mags? Z-Rims? The kind you can put in a freezer & they snap back into shape after being tweaked? _________________ 1947 Type 11a
