Same thing is happening on my Thing! I removed both the turn signal switch and the wiper switch to clean them. Some dirt dobbers had built a home in the wiper switch and I couldn't move the lever to the high speed. Anyway, after cleaning and lubing both switches and reinstalling, I keep blowing fuse #1 if I turn right. If I turn on the hazzards, fuse #10 blows. But left turn works just fine...
If the turn switch is anything like the wiper switch, it has a bunch of small springs and metal contacts inside of it. If one of the springs or contacts has broken loose, it could easily cause the short. I'm just glad the turn switch broke and not the wiper switch... The turn switch is half the price of the wiper switch! $60 from the Thing Shop. |

Both the wiper and turn signal switch are Bug parts. Can be had from any VW shop, probably for less than Thing Shop too. Good luck. |

Not that it matters, since I already ordered the switch from the Thing Shop, but vendors would you suggest for Bug parts?
Also, it there a listing anywhere of interchangable parts? I'd like to stop paying more then I need to...
Thanks |
