Wouldn't be too sure about that. The license guys in California had mine down as a '66, with the wrong VIN number. Got the right number and it works out as a March 1964 bus. Unless it somehow took over 18 monthe to get to the sunny shores, someone has the wrong details! Anyway, I really hope mine comes sooner than 11 weeks as summer over here will be nearly over by then! Oh crap! _________________ '66 21 window samba |

I had the guy at the MVD write down the color code as the VIN number when they did the inspection. I caught it and had them change it. I know back in the day it could sometimes be a while before a car was registered if it sat on the dealer lot. I know around here I wouldn't trust the registration to give me any actual data. _________________ Richard

| The registration date is correct 100%. Also it is impossible to be built in January and leave the factory in December!!!! What i believe is that it is a mistake on the certificate , maybe they wanted to write 02 as the month that left the factory and wrote 12 instead. I guess we will never know.. |

I can't believe it. Come downstairs this morning to see a letter from the VW museum - my birth certificate. Totally over the moon. I then open it to find that my Samba has changed shape at some point over the years as it left the factory as a Ghia. Talk about deflated! On a positive note I paid on the 9th of May and received it today, the 21st of June. Not bad! So the quest goes on _________________ '66 21 window samba |

Well, just got mine today. Few days shy of 3 months. Charged first day (April 2).
Only thing not listed was the engine number. How has everbody else faired?
Lists three M-codes....M 079 Leatherette equipment (Blue Grey).....M350 US-equipment (which many listed on this site did not come out until way after my car did)......M600 cannot be identified.
Anyone know what M600 would be?
Does say my car is a 113, VW Sedan de Luxe. _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Wow...that was fun!"

As far as I know, the information in the first post is still correct.
I update it from time to time. I recently updated the cost.
I did it online thorugh their German forum using an online translator web page. Everything worked and my certificate came a few weeks later. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

I just used an online translator as well and it seemed to work since I got my certificate, LOL.
It was about $42.00 US. When you pay, which you can do right thru the site, it shows 35 Euros. |

Yeah, it works. You get an email response to say that you've paid and then nothing. About 6 weeks later it arrives through the door. Bingo. It's well worth it............ as long as they get it right. Go for it _________________ '66 21 window samba |

Yeah same here. Waiting since 21st June. Sent an email, in German using an online translator, and awaiting a response. I didn't get any response to an email about the first certificate that they got wrong, so I've had to take my chance and order another. I can't register my van until I get it. The whole summer with it sitting there - and glorious weather in July as well! Oh well, we'll see. _________________ '66 21 window samba |

I had a friend translate the site and this is the latest and greatest place to order the cert.

Nachname: -------------------- Surname:
Fahrgestellnummer: ---------- Chassis number:
Modell (falls bekannt): ------- Model (if known) :
Zahlungsweise: ---------------- Payment type:

Kreditkarte: ------------------ Credit
Oh and it's currently 6-8 weeks.
Also it's 35 euro's.
Hope this helps out some. |

[quote="vwfan65"]
Hi , I'm still working as an engineer in the VW factory in Brussels / Belgium where they used to assemble beetles.
These cars were build on a C.K.D. base , as noticed on the Birth Certif.
CKD as for Completely Knocked Down , stood for a production system that VW used for foreign assembly plants. The cars were sold as a "whole" and charged as such , allthough the parts came all seperate from the Wolfsburg plant.
THAT's the reason why the delivery says "Belgium".
The M-Code stands for "Mehrausstattung" and means extra equipment.
Everything more than standard had to be "ordered " by M-Code in the vehicle's ordering documents.
These codes were used till the GOLF 2 production in the 80ties. |

I got a bus that was imported from Sweden and I got it insured on the chassis number and drove it for about 8 months on swedish plates with a uk mot and no tax until I got round to registering it. I didn't have any problems while I did that, I think you're allowed 6 months on foreign plates. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/groups/175509642524184/ |
