| So the rear seat was just covered with the "insert" material from the front seats (no vinyl)? Seems so plain compared to two-tone front seats - but then again I guess it was only an "emergency" seat. |

I have my OG rear seats, and yes, it's just a big expanse of corduroy, with the dark blue vinyl on the sides, and white piping. _________________ -Thom

Ok, I've compiled a Trout Blue web page to use as a guide. This is just a subset of the various TB pix available, but I was going for clarity.

Several of the images linked from the page above are actually of Kyle's aerosilver coupe. Aerosilver is a kind of silvery light-green metallic and in certain light can appear similar to trout blue.
A few of these images have shown up labeled as trout blue in the past. |

Ya know, I thought those looked different, but I wrote it off to lighting.
You know what would be cool? A Wiki page detailing each color scheme, so that all the info is in one place, and it can be easily created/edited/corrected. Here's the one I put together for Trout Blue http://vintagebus.com/wiki/index.php/TroutBlue - it needs some formatting help
Anyone can create and edit entries. _________________ -Thom

I'm curious: how does one reconcile the various OG TB interiour corduroy samples with the paint chip page, which shows a much darker fabric? I've attempted to do a little color correction on the chip page via gamma correction, but it's still darker than the examples we have on hand.

The og examples have faded through time/use.
The panels in the pictures i posted where a lot darker
on the back. The same thing had happened with my
old og antelope brown interior.Quite common i think. |

Those are the right seats for a 69. They've just been recovered in velour. Get yourself some seatcovers with the basketweave inserts and you'll be in business. |

A question I havenīt thought about (until today when a friend who is restoring a 64-conv. asked me) is the differences in the cutting of the mat in backseat area.
Look at these pics and you will understand.
vs.
The question occured whan he was about to order a set and looking at different manufacturer.
Newton vs. West coast classics.
Newton has their set cut like in the yellow 74 Ghia. WCC like the other one.
You gut a clue when they change the cuttingpatterns?

|

I don't have an exact VIN or model year for the change in carpet patterns, but using information from this thread and the two '60's cars I have owned or now own, the change was made in the later half of '62 or early '63. I had an early '62 coupe with an original interior with the two piece section next to the back seat. This car was a '62 with the original stale air engine components.
In reviewing Page 2 of this thread, I see a picture of a Sea Blue '63 convertible with what appears to be an original interior with the wrap around style carpet pattern next to the back seat. If I were having a carpet set cut for a '64 coupe or convertible, I would go with West Coast Classics and use the later style wrap around pattern. This would be consistent with years '62(later half)-'64--and at least in this small regard, consistent with the rear seat area treatment all the way to the end of Ghia production. |
