Good luck with the move. It takes huge amounts of effort - which increases the older you get. More stuff to deal with as time marches on.

You arent kidding. The move is going to be a total pain. I think the only chance I have of beating you to a running, driving car, is if you come out and build the deck, clear the trees, paint the house......etc...etc...etc..... Very Happy

Ok A little update. Last time home I uncovered the Baja and looked long and hard at the radiator frame I was building. I just cant seem to find a radiator set up I like.

I'm seriously starting to think that the radiator may be best up front. I have room under the nose for the radiator and fans...and will have to come up with something for running the lines...

I also noticed that my engine builder cashed the check for the motor I wrote him long ago.. Engine finally getting done???

to me it seems up front would give the best cooling, hands down. line placement is the hard part. i dont like mine,(undercar) but it was easy, and cheap. just one of those things that i'll change eventually...

check? i thought it was put off cus its a buddy deal?

ps. glad to hear you at least looked at the car.

How did you run the lines? I was thinking a couple lengths of 1 1/2" .95 tubing...

Yes check.. LOL someone has to pay for the engine kit...

oh, thought you bought all the parts before hand.

i ran 1x2 .095 (or 120 dont remember) tubing. the 1x2 holds basically the same amount of water. but it is only 1" tall. really, you arent going to hurt it enough to leak

But you could crush it enough to restrict the flow considerably.... and don't forget to consider how much distance the pump will have to move the water, too. Me personally, I am sticking with the wing idea over the motor...

then just dont forget how much higher the pump will have to push the water Wink

either way its a tradeoff for the pump. personally, i dont think it will effect it either way

Three feet up, and three feet down...

vs:

Ten feet forward and ten feet back...

You must not have been very good at math, dude. Laughing

but pushing water forward is no big deal for the pump. its moving water just like in a regular car, but its just more water. the pump doesnt have to work any harder. vs a wing where the pump is pushing against gravity.

your right, i wasnt the greatest at math

I'm using a high volume aftermarket pump but I also wonder about moving that far. I have mentioned it to my FIL and he always says it will fine..... I'm still on the fence as to which way to go. I have the metal for my wing set up and have already cut everything. I just wonder how its going to look.... and I would also like to get some weight off the back of my car and puts some in the front...

more water equales more wieght. moving it up, the pump only fights gravity and that is constant but on the way back down its got gravity on its side thus creating a pull and in turn easing the push of the water up. its acting like a sipone in a sense with alot of help from a pump. with your set up you have to have more pressure to push a larger amount of water. for example, take 1 foot hose and blow out all the water, now do that with a 10 foot hose.....alot more force is needed. I am going to side with skid on this one...besides why do all the rail guys run them up top or just behind the back seat??? Question

more room with airflow there on a rail, so its easier. also, no room up front with an a-arm front end

The honey-do list I conquered:D My satellite internet (wildlblue)has been down for about two weeks now, so I get to use dial up, and havent been on here much. I am still waiting for the engine. My FIL is starting to put the pressure on the builder. Its tough when he is doing it as a favor. I'll let you guys know when I get some news.... On the bad side, my time off is just about over. I'm actually out now but just for a couple days.... I will almost guarantee that my engine will get finished just about the time I ship out.

Last time I heard from him, he had switched gears and was working on his street car(s). Jowlz goes both ways... Shocked Laughing Laughing I understand the asphalt fix as well, so I can't say I blame him. Hopefully he will chime in here soon or I will have to call him on his cell and give him crap. Cool
