Is anyone out there confident that they have an original top? I'm going to replace mine since it has a few tears, but if it's original, I don't want to throw it away (even though I know it's nearly impossible to repair vinyl. I've got baja rims on it right now, but I've got the original rims from the P.O., so someday I want to put it back to original condition.
The top on it now has oval plastic grommets around the holes where it attaches to the body. It looks like most replacement tops use metal with a more rectangular shape. Anyone know what's original? _________________ You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.

I am pretty sure the one I took off was original. It had steel grommets, also a steel plate was sewn in the back where it laid across the attachment points.
Unless you have a NOS in the bag saving the old one is pointless. Not worth repairing or storing. |

Save the hardware though!! The top frame is valuable unless the header bow is rusted out. |

Are they on frames?
If they are vwoa they are probably worth more than aftermarket windows. |

I'll definitely keep the frame. It's in pretty good shape. I think the top is aftermarket because the rivet job is pretty sloppy. There's no metal strip on the back, though. I thought that was a later design by some clever owners. _________________ You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.
