I am replacing the floor pans on my '73 Thing this week and the new pans do not have seat rail tracks. I ordered a pair of new tracks from CIP which are labeled for '71-'72 Beetle.

My vehicle is at the mechanic and cant check if the Beetle tracks will fit the Thing seats. Does anyone have any experience with it? I am guessing that even if they dont, it might be easier to find seats for the Beetle tracks instead. Any thoughts? I would like to get high back seats instead.

The 70-71 standard Bug seat rail is said to be the same size as a 73-74 Thing. Sold at OE Vee Dub as such, and they know what they are talking about.

I believe it is 71-72 seats that are interchangeable with Thing seats. I know I looked around quite a bit. Hope your tracks work out. I believe the contour shape of the beetle rail/track where it meets the pan is different for the pan contour of the Thing pan.

I ended up buying tracks from The Thing Shop after looking for second hand and some on the web sites. Originals were not salvageable off my pans. The Thing Shop tracks are pricey but very nice and well made compared to some of the stamped foreign made seat tracks/rails. They did not require any mods to weld in place.
