After about a half hour of fighting with what appears to be a PRIMO top frame, I came to the conclusion that the PO supplied me with a rear bow that is identical to the centre bow....the rear bow is spose to be a half rectangle is it not? The one he gave me is identical to the centre bow with the bend in it. If so, does anyone want to trade bow for bow? _________________ "Don't you say another word about dat boy. There's no seperate "center bow" - the center ridge is part of the folding mechanism and is attached to the front bow. Sounds like you've got a good and bad rear bow. Yes, the rear bow is kinda like half of a rectangle. A very simple \___/ shaped piece of metal with holes in the end. |

My rear frame tube is exactly the same shape as the other 'tube' that is attatched to the pivot. I agree I am using terms very loosly. _________________ "Don't you say another word about dat boy. So for a complete top frame, there's a couple of pieces. The most expensive and complex bit is the folding part - the front of it has a "bow" that seals to the windshield and the top material is riveted to it. That folding part also has a cross piece that creates the middle ridge you see when the top is up. The folding part has several hinges.

ASCII art front folding piece:
===== <- front bow
<_____> <- folding side pieces
/ \ <- "middle" bow
|
There's a rear bow (that I think we've been discussing) that provides the rear ridge for the top. It's held in place by two straps that attach to the front piece at the middle cross section and to the body. Those straps have sewn in pockets that the rear bow goes through to center it.
Both the front folding part and rear bow attach to the body at the pins just behind the rear doors.

Perfect. OK, I need a rear bow, and have an extra centre piece ( the one that closely represents the rear bow, except the bend in it). What do I do now?? _________________ "Don't you say another word about dat boy. Fact'o business, don't you say another word to me. The Thing Shop will sell you a rear bow. I was missing the same piece, called 'em up, and I got one for around $40 (could have been $70 though).
Good luck. |
