As I was taking the boring minivan home the other day (because it was rainy and I don't have my new top on yet), I came up to a 4-way stop with lots of traffic. Way up front I got a flash of what I thought might be a bright yellow Thing just like mine. After stomping on the gas and speeding through traffic in ways I can only dream of in my 1600 convertible world, I caught up to one of these:
I'm sure they're nice people, but I bet they don't have as much fun as the people on here. _________________ You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.

There is a guy down the road from me who has a daily driver that is one of those yellow Jeepsters. Years ago when I got back into Thing I first saw it and did the same thing and caught up and went DANG!! Last week I saw an awesome Bright Red lifted Thign with a big motor in town that I had never seen before. As new car increase in price adn become more adn more boxey, Thing have started to appear out ot the wood work.. I love it.. |

I know what you mean. I was really hoping there was going to be another Thing around town. The Jeepster was in great shape, but it was on a trailer being towed. Shame, really. _________________ You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.

I grew up in Jeepsters. My old man had a thing for Willys 4x4s. Mom had a '56, and later one of the AMC Jeepsters. My first "car" was a '59 Willys Jeep Overland Wagon, kind of a primordial SUV. There were also pickups and cab overs...
Dead simple (save for the '60's AMC) and reliable as a rock. Kinda like present day Things. |
