Before I con my husband into changing these seats, let me ask. . . .

We have the original seats for our 74 Thing - they were switched out for a pair of hard molded racing buckets. Now, don't get me wrong, for hard molded plastic I'm amazed at the comfort (it's not heated leather or anything) of these seats. The problem lies in the fact that I bearly clear the dash!! If my hair was only blue! I'm just wondering if a stock Thing seats ride any higher? I'm not sure if these new seats are mounted on the original hardware (doesn't look like it).

Thanks - Keri ~ I'm the redhead in the Teal Thing

Hi Kari,

I had the exact same situation when I first bought my Thing. It had some Baja racing seats in it. I sank down four inches when I got into the car, and then of course I'd have to hoist my prodigious gut out of them at the end of the ride.

I don't know how high your seats ride, but the stock seats are about level with the bottom of the door or even a little higher.

Well Keri I'm only 5'4" and have the stock seats in my 73 Thing and my husband says that I barely look over the steering wheel. But they are easy to get in and out of considering how low you sit in the car.

Thank you all so much!! I'm 5'3" and there is just NO graceful way to enter or exit this low seat!! The husband is 6'2" and he also looks like a contortionist trying to exit a Shriner clown car!
