Has anyone purchased a convertible top from http://www.convertibletopguys.com
They sell a top made by Germanex and I want to know if they are any good. They happen to be the least expensive I have seen which, I know, usually means trouble ie: JCWhitney. |

Don't totally discount JC Whitney. They afterall are a re-seller. I bought a headliner for my squareback from them and it was a killer price. When I got it, it was made by TMI. At least 20% cheaper than I could buy from TMI... Food for thought.
I don't have any experience with the guys you refer to... Bought my tops from The Thing Shop and TMI. Likes The Thing Shops top better. _________________ PRAISE THE LOWERED.

I purchased a top from convertibletopguys for a Triumph Spitfire that I had. The top was great and cost a lot less than the other vendors. They make the tops as ordered, so you'll have to wait a few weeks to get one. |

How about the top from jbugs? My frugalness is showing again. I'm looking for the best quality at the best price. |

I have a convertible top from the Thing Shop in AZ.
It has been on for over 12 years and still looks great. No rips, fatigue, fading or any issues.
Every piece of equipment I buy from them is top notch.

Hey Solomon,
Nice looking Thing! The landscape looks familiar. I seem to remember Ian's Thing posing in the same location... Any chance the two of you had a photo shoot together? |

Got mine there five years ago and it still looks great even with three dogs and kids abusing it every time it moves. |

I love that one T-shirt -- it's camo, and the caption reads "Ha! You can't see me!" _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

one question about mounting the top...how do you decide where to rivet on the front header bow.....
I've heard on a sunny day lay the top in the sun, then moch mount it on the back and almost close the top......then mark it and drill....but....how do you decide with certainty where to drill not to makr the top too lose or taught. Also what are people using for the metal strip to sandwich the top to the bow? _________________ "Don't you say another word about dat boy. Fact'o business, don't you say another word to me.
