probably a good thing that the fit is so tight...anyone have problems with the header bow rivets chipping the windshield frame paint?

Yeah, my windshield frame has little breaks in the paint for the rivets.

I've broken enough of those top latches. Now, I leave the couple of ties on the left and right side of the top for last.

I leave the rear-most ties on all the time unless I'm taking the top off entirely. So, with those attached, I unfold the top and latch the front latches - it's not too hard with the side ties off. Then I pull ON THE FABRIC stretching to get the side ties in place (the metal loops into the top). Since it's gradual, it seems easier than snapping the latches first. Also, much less danger in breaking one.

My top is original and still in pretty good shape but it also fits tight. When I latch the top to the windshield it pulls the windshield back by about 1/4" - 1/2". Over time won't that type of stress on the windshield frame cause a failure of some sort? When these were brand new off the showroom floor did they fit better?
