What are the holes and notches in the bulkhead down by your feet? Without looking, I seem to remember three holes and two notches on each side. Does something attach to them? Just curious... |

I have always wondered why there is an indentation in the firewall to the left of the passenger's side kick plate. Anyone else wonder what that might be for? _________________ Is that the new Hummer! |

This one I think I know - the pentagon shaped indent is clearance for the accelerator pedal on the RHD Trekker?

Mark,
Looking at one on the pics your took, I'd say you are right.

This pic from the UK clearly shows the indentation in the right wheelwell of a RHD Trekker.
The holes to the left appear to be plugged and not being used for anything directly relating to a RHD.

- - - The "Bulkhead" is the same as the Ghia (or the Bug?!). So that explains the slotted holes, they were for the foot rest installed in the passenger side foot well and had two tabs which fit into the slots. The two round holes... anybody's guess, I would say access during manufacturing. In the Bug and Ghia they would have had carpet over them and VW wouldn't tool up a new part for a military vehicle.
- - - I plugged mine (the round ones) with hinge screw caps from the Bugs. _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.
