I am about to start a full restoration of a SAFARI in Mexico city, I am in the US for about 10 days getting all the parts I need to finish the project. I have a c oncern regarding the coating of the floor pans, since I am planning to use the car on camping trips to the beach. So I want to give it the best protection I can. What about RUST BULLET & and POR 15? Has anyone out there used this products?

Gracias

I've used Por 15 and I love it. I haven't had it on long enough to give you a full breakdown, but I do remember reading a forum where someone did a test of many rust preventive products. Do a search or someone else might remember and put the link up. Don't get the Por 15 on anything you don't want painted!

POR-15....
I completly coated my pan and front end with this 4 years ago and not a single rust spot has shown up. I live on the Oregon coast and stuff will get rusty here in a matter of days. Two things I recommend...POR 15 goes a long ways...I suggest buying the pint. The other reason to buy the pint is cause no matter how well you try to seal an open can, The stuff dries out. I've lost half quarts due to that.

You can paint over it once it's dry but you've got to use a self etching primer first.

Good luck!

I have used both Por 15 and Master Series Silver.

Thoughts:

Master series covers a ton of ground sorta speak. can be top coated with virtually any paint. must scuff with 240 approx after 48 hrs. questionable on others adering when coming to scratch resistent.

I did top coat with Hardnose paints sold by same co that does Por 15. It is 2 part paint. I am not as impressed with it as compared to their Por 15 black sealant paint.

Master series claims you can prime a complete car with teh Silver. not sure if I will do that. The ads look sweet though.

Por 15, little more cost, sweet flowing stuff. I did it on my first project and Master Series on second. If there is a third, I will go back to Por 15. Only down side I see is it must be topcoated if exposed to direct sunlight. Easy to use, easy to touch up, flows out with foam brush like sprayed professional finish.

Just don't let it dry on your skin unless you would like to wear it for several days.

Thats my nickels worth

Yes Por 15 is a good product. If you don't want it to rust-encapsulate it in POR 15. And don't get it on your fingers. Don't skip any steps either if you don't want rust to return.
