Poor man's split!

Like having an Oval with a split section welded in.

Not as good as a 74 super beetle with fuzzy pimp interior and a split section welded in. Don't forget the curb feelers and gold dayton wheels....

Some people think its cooler because it was a one year only thing. Well actualy a half of 2 different year thing. I say "two glove boxes are better than one".

Trayle, I would have to agree with you. If you want a split, go all the way split!

i agree, a split aint a split without the big speedo and two gloveboxes, but i certainly won't knock zwitters, they are cool in their own respect

Poin of interest for all of you out there. zwitter is german for hermaphrodite. i.e. a zwitter is a little of both: spit and oval.

I Have one of those "zwitters" and a daul glove box split , zwitters are nice but I prefer the pre 52 body style ,ever since I met this one guy I dont call them zwitters anymore , I call them Jakubs same meaning you know!

Maybe Roy would sound better tho ,, what do you think Roy?

Found this interesting post on another forum. Anyone else remember this?

I just purchased my first vw bug today. I was told by a freind that it was very old and quite rare, full of hard to locate accessories. Things like 356B Drum brakes, split rear window?, He calls it a standard because of no chrome trim, is that true? The interior also has no upholstry in certain areas. It also has an OKRASA motor I was told with dual Solex carbs and a wierd oil filter canister. It runs with no problem and has no rust at all. I was told it had the original paint and floorpans. What are pans? Where the seats are?
I know it's faster than my buddies 1776cc hot rod beetle and it stops like a new car. It was in a barn and bought on a hunch at a local Tag Sale. If this is an exotic car I would like some info on it's value and history please. The old woman says it was a 1953, but it's not an oval like I read they should be. It has two small windows in back? I paid $500.00 for it and would like to customize it really cool. Especially the dash, looks like the one in my freinds 57.
Any help is appreciated.

yes, poor man split;
no dual glove boxes
no alum trin on boxes
no dual bake o lite pods
no big telefunken radio or similar
no big clock
no 16" wheels
no t air cleaner
no pope nose
no "L" handle
no alum hood handle
no solid hood emblem
no grooved bumpers
no grooved alum trim
no dimple shifter know
no seamaphore switch
no round tail light
no round horn grills
no dimple rear fenders
etc

Does have;
batwing, some 25hp left over parts in the engine, split rear window...too many split parts missing if you as me.

Either way, if you had a pre 52 split and all those parts listed above were missing, you ended up poor too...

trying to piss you off?
Not even trying, just the facts...

but even lower in the split tree...
zwitter std. the cheapest!
If you also have a zwitter std, then you basically have a split window clip on a oval!
