I thought they shared oil with the transmission, but I could be wrong. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

According to the military manual supplied with them, use the same transaxle oil (90W, or a multi-viscosity like 80-90W). Fill it to about a half inch below the upper fill plug. _________________ Current VW drives: 1984 Westfalia

I think its approx 0.25 litre per side. RGBs are definitely separate from a gearbox but they use the same kind of oil. Fill and drain plugs are 17mm allen wrench. _________________

If they are the same boxes as a bus I think you're looking at GL4 trans oil and about half a pint. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I'm pretty sure they are the same part as the Bus boxes. They started out with the 1.39 gears, then went to the 1.26 gears. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife
