Yeah, and those 2 ladies don't seem overly concerned about it......
Perhaps they used the leather strap to mend a purse handle.... |
I believe the Meisen ambulance beetle had the passenger door that opened like that to get the stretcher in. |

Very nice, I like the service station photo the best with the early split in the background and the newer on the lift.

This is by far my favorite thread on this site.
Question, what is the split being dipped into in the above photo? |

These photos were taken by my dad when he was stationed in Germany in the early '50s.

I found a nice picture that was hanging in a exhibition in a local town nearby. All the foto's were taking in the town itself, Gullegem it's called Beware , it's a holy picture! Check out the bumpers.
And this picture is from the Solex mopeds.

I'm not sure, the slides aren't marked. Some other shots he took are clearly of Berlin (Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, etc.) but I think he was all over the country. He was there from 1952–54. Unfortunately he didn't bring a VW or Porsche back with him. _________________ 5/62 343

Ref the 2nd vert shot Called 'A pretty Early Vert'
Picure #18 down.
I think that this is a pre 45 one off vert:
1) Pre war Stutgart plate I believe
2) No chrome except on bumpers (maybe headlight rings see #12)
3) Odd front hood handle (looks more like 38 shape?? hard to see
4) No inside rearview mirror (neither dash or top of windshield)
or outside mirror either
5) Very thin top of windshield frame
6) Tapered sides of windshield frame
7) Vertical pins on windshield ends for centering vert roof
8) Nonstock doors for type 39 prototype (don't match front of body style)
9) Odd door top shape (IBID 8)
10) External boxed semis
11) rear car looks like a type 39 test car with rollback roof
12) Fender/headlight joint looks odd seems to have chrome headlight
rings??( See #2)
13) Passengers look to be race car drivers with laural wreath around them
This looks alot like Porsche's V3 vert thats been updated to type 39 testcar specs, especially as the front is concerned, but not the doors.
Any body else see anything or have ideas??
