What wire should I tap into for ignition power for the stereo I'm installing? I have a stock '74 with no modifications. I found a good source for the always hot lead (clock/memory), but I need to know what wire to tap into for hot from the ignition switch (power).

It is the next one over on the fuse block-you want the one that is hot when the ignition key is on-get out your strobe light and check it out.

Note that there is an accessory circuit that is hot when the key is on, but cold when the starter cranks.

Does anyone know if there's supposed to be a way to turn on the accessories without the ignition? My key doesn't seem to have two "on" positions (like most other cars I've owned).

OK I went home and checked for you. On my 74 it is either the #1 or #2 fuse which are the ones furthest to the drivers door. These are the ones that are hot when the key is turned on. The #9 and #10 fuses are the ones closest to the passenger door-these are the ones that are hot all the time with the hot wire running from the starter to the fuse panel. As always when hooking up something to the fuse panel hook it to the side that is closest to the front of the vehicle. This assures that if there is a problem the fuse will blow because the power comes from the rear of the car through the fuse and to the terminal nearest the front of the car.

Hope that made sense.
